Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Construction Discipline Engineer (CDE) - Civil opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.

Construction Discipline Engineer (CDE) – Civil (2 positions)

The CDE-Civil Field Engineer will be responsible for planning and technical oversight of field construction activities within a specified discipline associated with procurement, fabrication, installation, modification and maintenance of systems and components. Coordinate with Design agencies to ensure timely issuance of new design or design changes. Walk-down and review designs for constructability, resolve design problems encountered in the field during construction and meet with and discuss solutions with Design Engineers. Inspect/verify materials, equipment, and construction workmanship and assure compliance with drawings, specifications and code requirements. Coordinate with Quality Control to ensure the installation meets the requirements. Participate in turnover activities. Support/participate in start-up and functional check out of equipment and systems. This position requires a thorough understanding of Construction Engineering principles and ability to apply these principles to field conditions. Experience in the preparation of computer-based construction work execution plans (Work Packages) including job specific hazards analysis, i.e. Asset Suite and Assisted Hazard Analysis or equivalent.

Education/Years of Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and at least five (5) years of practical experience in construction civil field engineering OR an Associate's degree in Civil Engineering and five to ten (5-10) years of practical experience in construction civil engineering OR a high school diploma and ten (10) + years of practical experience in construction civil engineering.

Skills/Experience:

• Familiar with National codes and standards (i.e. AISC, ACI) and possess the ability to interpret and analyze these requirements to determine equivalent means of achieving compliance when necessary.
• Experienced with excavation, shoring, rigging calculations and development of ordinary and critical lift packages.
• Experienced with structural steel fabrication and erection.
• Experienced with concrete placement.
• Knowledge of SRS guides and standards for concrete placement and protective coatings would be a plus.
• Capable of climbing / spending extended periods of time in the field.
• Capable of obtaining qualifications to work in radiation/contamination areas.
• Working knowledge of discipline specific codes and standards.
• Previous experience with generating work execution plans (preferably utilizing the Asset Suite work control system).
• Previous experience with generating job hazards analysis.
• Previous experience performing material take off and procurement.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance (an active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties).
