Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an Electrical Safety Manager/Electrical Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN.

 

Position Summary

The Electrical Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) provides leadership, technical expertise, and oversight for electrical safety, compliance, and engineering activities. This position ensures electrical systems, equipment, installations, and work practices comply with applicable codes, regulations, and standards while managing electrical safety and equipment approval programs. The role serves as a key electrical subject matter expert, provides guidance on personnel qualifications and training, supports design and construction activities, and collaborates with engineering, ES&H, and other technical disciplines to promote safe, compliant, and reliable project operations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and technical oversight for electrical personnel, including hiring, qualification, training, professional development, and performance.
  • Serves as the Electrical Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and subject matter expert, interpreting and ensuring compliance with applicable electrical codes, regulations, DOE requirements, and industry standards.
  • Reviews and approves electrical equipment, designs, installations, wiring methods, and alternative approaches to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Manages Electrical Safety, Unlisted Equipment Approval, and electrical configuration management programs, including evaluation of equipment not certified by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL).
  • Establishes and approves qualification requirements for AHJ Inspectors and Qualified Electrical Workers and provides guidance on electrical training.
  • Provides technical direction for electrical design, procurement, construction, installation, testing, and maintenance while coordinating with ES&H, DOE, and other technical subject matter experts.
  • Maintains awareness of applicable technologies and ensures appropriate design, procedural, and configuration control of electrical structures, systems, and components.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a relevant technical field
  • 1+ year of nuclear experience
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in design, maintenance, and/or construction work including requirements documentation, detailed design generation, implementation, system integration, testing, and on site startup.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

 

Other Job Requirements:

  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance
