Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Computer Systems Specialist opportunity in Johnson City, TN.

 

Position Summary

The Computer Systems Specialist provides day-to-day technical support for the company’s computer systems, equipment, users, and IT infrastructure. The position will assist with general IT support, computer and equipment purchasing and inventory, hardware and software setup, user support, system administration, and IT security. The Computer Systems Specialist will work with internal employees and company leadership to help ensure technology resources are reliable, secure, properly maintained, and available to support business operations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide general technical support for computers, software, peripherals, connectivity, and other employee IT needs.
  • Set up, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, and replace computers and related equipment.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including equipment, user accounts, software, and system access.
  • Coordinate the ordering, assignment, inventory, and tracking of company computers, equipment, and software licenses.
  • Assist with administration and maintenance of Microsoft 365, company applications, networks, and other IT systems.
  • Support IT security measures, including access controls, endpoint security, system updates, authentication, and security monitoring.
  • Assist with identifying and responding to cybersecurity concerns and maintaining related IT documentation and procedures.
  • Coordinate with IT vendors and service providers and assist with other technology projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of professional IT experience; relevant internships, co-op experience, college projects, technical support experience, or military training may be considered.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, networking, and information security principles.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • General understanding of user accounts, permissions, authentication, networks, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Ability and willingness to troubleshoot technical issues and learn unfamiliar systems and technologies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate equipment, inventory, and system records.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with system access, company equipment, and security-related information.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide technical assistance to employees with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities while providing responsive internal customer support.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive company information appropriately.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility as technical knowledge and experience develop.
