Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an Electrical QC Engineer opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.

 

Work Location: Aiken, SC

 

Electrical QC Engineer-

The Electrical QC Engineer will support a multi-year construction project involving significant civil and mechanical construction, including grading, storm drainage, demolition, earthwork, ductbanks, service water, process piping, electrical systems, and associated site infrastructure.

 

Duties:

 

  • Perform field QC inspections for electrical construction, underground systems, testing, and turnover.
  • Verify electrical construction complies with approved drawings, specifications, procedures, applicable codes and standards, the project Quality Management System (QMS), applicable ASME NQA-1 requirements, DOE Order 414.1D, and project-specific quality requirements.
  • Inspect conduit, cable tray, raceways, ductbank interfaces, grounding, cables, equipment, panels, terminations, and supports.
  • Verify electrical materials and equipment are approved, identified, stored, and installed per requirements.
  • Verify conduit routing, supports, bends, penetrations, separation, grounding, and interfaces with ductbanks and underground electrical systems.
  • Inspect cable installation, identification, routing, pulling, segregation, termination, and associated documentation as applicable.
  • Verify equipment installation, mounting, alignment, grounding, identification, and connections against approved construction documents.
  • Witness and/or verify electrical testing, including continuity, insulation resistance, grounding, cable testing, and other required installation or operational testing.
  • Review electrical drawings, one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, work packages, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and test documentation to determine inspection requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Verify required hold points, witness points, inspections, and testing are completed before energization, concealment, or continuation of work.
  • Perform and document field inspections and maintain complete, accurate, and traceable quality records.
  • Identify and document nonconforming work, Conditions Adverse to Quality (CAQs), and other quality issues.
  • Initiate and/or support Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and resolution of identified quality issues.
  • Support electrical walkdowns, punch-list activities, system turnover, quality surveillances, and audits.
  • Coordinate inspection activities with Construction, Engineering, Testing, Commissioning, subcontractors, and other project Quality personnel.
  • Immediately escalate significant quality concerns and Significant Conditions Adverse to Quality (SCAQs) in accordance with project procedures.


Skills/Experience:

 

  • Minimum five (5) years of electrical quality control, electrical inspection, or related experience supporting industrial construction.
  • Experience inspecting industrial electrical installations, power distribution, underground electrical systems, or similar construction.
  • Working knowledge of conduit, cable tray, raceways, grounding and bonding, cable installation, electrical equipment, terminations, and electrical testing.
  • Functional understanding of ASME NQA-1 quality requirements and DOE Order 414.1D.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, procedures, work packages, and inspection/test requirements.
  • Experience performing and documenting electrical field inspections and maintaining auditable construction quality records.
  • Experience witnessing and documenting electrical testing and verifying results against applicable acceptance criteria.
  • Experience with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), hold/witness points, NCRs, corrective actions, and construction turnover documentation.
  • Must be able to perform field inspections in an active construction environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Quality, or a related technical.
  • Applicable electrical inspection, testing, or quality certifications.
  • Previous DOE, nuclear, or other highly regulated industrial construction experience.
