Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Nuclear Design Authority Engineer (Procedures) opportunity to support engineering programs at the Savannah River Site (SRS).

 

Work Location: Aiken, SC

 

Position Description

This position will support the development and implementation of an engineering procedures program for a DOE nuclear organization at the Savannah River Site. The selected candidate will review existing SRS Engineering Procedures and related documents and support their transition into organization-specific procedures and guidance.This position is best suited for an experienced Design Authority, Cognizant Engineer, System Engineer, Shift Technical Engineer, or senior nuclear facility engineer who understands how engineering procedures are applied in an operating nuclear facility.

 

Responsibilities:


  • Review existing SRS Engineering Procedures and related engineering documents.
  • Develop, revise, and transition procedures and guidance for use within the engineering organization.
  • Apply practical nuclear facility Design Authority/System Engineering experience when evaluating procedural requirements.
  • Ensure procedures clearly address engineering responsibilities, technical requirements, reviews, approvals, interfaces, and implementation.
  • Coordinate with Design Authorities, System Engineers, facility engineering, operations, maintenance, and other technical organizations.
  • Participate in and lead cross-functional teams supporting engineering program implementation.
  • Identify opportunities for engineering process improvement and optimization.
  • Develop clear, technically accurate written procedures and guidance.

 

Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of nuclear experience.
  • At least 5 years serving in a nuclear facility Design Authority-type function, such as Cognizant Engineer, System Engineer, Shift Technical Engineer, or comparable technical authority position.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Significant SRS engineering experience, particularly supporting Liquid Waste.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, revising, or implementing engineering procedures and guidance documents.
  • Experience as a Design Authority, Cognizant/System Engineer, or other nuclear facility technical authority.
  • Experience leading or participating in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Engineering process-improvement or optimization experience.
  • Local to the Aiken/SRS area or able to work onsite as required.

 

Other Job Requirements:

 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
