Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Structural Designer opportunity in Johnson City, TN.
Position Summary:
The Structural Designer will support structural engineering projects by developing detailed drawings, models, and construction documents for commercial, industrial, and/or infrastructure projects. This role requires strong proficiency in design software, a solid understanding of structural systems, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and project teams.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed structural drawings and 3D models based on engineering calculations and design specifications
- Prepare plans, sections, elevations, and connection details for steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures
- Coordinate designs with architects, engineers, and other disciplines
- Review project specifications and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Revise drawings based on internal reviews and client feedback
- Assist with field investigations, site visits, and as-built documentation as needed
- Maintain organized project documentation and adhere to company drafting standards
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field. Or equivalent amount of experience in lieu of a degree
- 10+ years of structural drafting/design experience
- Experience in industrial or heavy civil design
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software
- Working knowledge of structural systems and construction methods
- Familiarity with IBC, AISC, ACI, or other relevant building codes
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
