Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Quality Engineer opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN.

 

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compliance-driven Quality Engineer to support a high-precision industrial manufacturing project within the nuclear industry. This role ensures that all components, processes, and documentation meet rigorous quality standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in nuclear manufacturing environments and a strong understanding of NQA-1, ISO, and DOE/NRC protocols.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement quality plans, procedures, and documentation aligned with NQA-1 and ISO standards
  • Perform inspections, audits, and surveillance of manufacturing processes and suppliers
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for non-conformances
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing records for compliance
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to ensure quality throughout the lifecycle
  • Maintain traceability and documentation for regulatory audits and customer reviews
  • Support qualification and validation of equipment, processes, and personnel
  • Monitor and report quality metrics, trends, and continuous improvement initiatives

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, preferably in the nuclear, automotive, aerospace, or defense industries
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and ANSI/ASME standards
  • Proficiency in quality management systems (QMS), inspection tools, and data analysis
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma certification
  • Experience supporting DOE or NRC-regulated projects
  • Strong knowledge of NQA-1 standards
  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and contamination control

 

Other Job Requirements:

  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security clearance. Active clearance is a plus.
