Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Nuclear Safety Division Coordinator opportunity in Richland, WA for the DOE Hanford Field Office.
Position Overview:
The DNFSB and Nuclear Safety Specialist will provide The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Hanford Field Office (HFO), Assistant Manager for Safety and Quality (AMSQ), and Nuclear Safety Division (NSD), with programmatic, logistical, coordination, and analytical support for HFO interactions with the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB), DOE Headquarters (DOE-HQ), and other DOE oversight stakeholders following areas:
- Facilitate interactions and support coordination among HFO, DOE-HQ, and other DOE elements on matters involving DNFSB and other oversight stakeholders to ensure interactions, deliverables, and follow-up actions are timely, accurate, and properly documented.
- Monitor oversight-related activities and advise NSD of significant issues, emerging concerns, potential sensitivities, and matters that may affect HFO programs, commitments, or stakeholder interests.
- Support NSD in its role as HFO’s point of contact with DNFSB, DOE-HQ, and other DOE oversight stakeholders, including resident inspectors, site representatives, and visiting staff.
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of plans, processes, tracking tools, and procedures used to manage HFO’s interface with DNFSB, DOE-HQ, and other DOE oversight stakeholders.
- Support management in the development, coordination, tracking, and implementation of responses to recommendations, commitments, corrective actions, and other actions resulting from oversight activities.
- Coordinate, track, and facilitate timely and complete responses to inquiries, information requests, document requests, and other communications from DNFSB, DOE-HQ, and other DOE oversight stakeholders.
- Review and coordinate report submittals, document reviews, comment resolution, concurrences, meeting packages, correspondence, and related materials to ensure items provided to DNFSB, DOE-HQ, and other DOE oversight stakeholders are accurate, thorough, properly routed and complete in a timely manner. • Review and coordinate the review of documents and publications intended for transmittal to DNFSB, DOE-HQ, and other DOE oversight stakeholders to ensure appropriateness, completeness, consistency, and alignment with HFO expectations.
- Support site visits by preparing agendas, coordinating meetings, preparing correspondence, organizing orientation briefings and tours, maintaining records, and coordinating required site-specific training, access, badging, transportation, and dosimetry.
- Provide support for audits, assessments, reviews, evaluations, and other related oversight activities involving HFO, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating entrance meetings, exit meetings, and briefings to ensure appropriate participation, readiness, and logistical support.
- Review contractor presentations, briefings, and related materials, and provide feedback to NSD regarding adequacy, completeness, and responsiveness to identified issues, concerns, or requests.
- Attend DNFSB, DOE-HQ, and other oversight-related reviews, meetings, briefings, and other related meetings in support of NSD’s interface responsibilities.
- Identify, document, and track commitments and action items arising from meetings, briefings, reviews, assessments, audits, and site visits, and support HFO in monitoring those actions through satisfactory completion.
- Develop, maintain, and report metrics related to HFO responsiveness to DNFSB, DOE-HQ, and other DOE oversight stakeholder requests, including timeliness, workload, status, and resource impacts.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc status reports summarizing DNFSB, DOE-HQ, and other DOE oversight stakeholder interactions, requests, commitments, action items, and overall status for HFO management.
- Provide responsive support for emerging issues, special assignments, and time-sensitive activities involving DNFSB, DOE-HQ, and other DOE oversight stakeholders, as requested by HFO.
- Apply sound judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness within established policies, procedures, and guidance to resolve coordination issues, identify needed follow-up actions, and support successful execution of oversight interface activities.
- Provide clear, professional written and verbal communication in all interactions with HFO, DNFSB, DOE-HQ, contractors, and other DOE oversight stakeholders.
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism in all interactions with DNFSB, EM, DOE-HQ, HFO personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders, and engage in a clear, respectful, responsive, and collaborative manner that supports effective coordination and working relationships.
Education and Experience:
- Nine (9) years of directly applicable experience in applying relevant theories, principles, and practices to tasks, problems, and issues.
- Working level knowledge of interfacing with Hanford stakeholders, coordinating Hanford site visits, and tracking and reporting interactions and requests.
- Working level knowledge of HFO mission, activities, and priorities.
- Skilled in problem identification and resolution
- Demonstrate familiarity or relevant experience or ability to perform under Hanford or other government agency procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and/or other MS Office tools.
Preferred Experience & Capabilities
- Ability to successfully interface with DNFSB, DOE HQ, and other DOE oversight stakeholders’ to facilitate oversight of Hanford contractors and the Hanford Field Office.
- Working level knowledge of DNFSB, DOE HQ, and other DOE oversight stakeholders’ policies and work practices
- Working level knowledge of Hanford Site mission, activities, and priorities.
- Working level knowledge of DOE Hanford processes and procedures.
- Working level knowledge of DOE’s program management practices, policies, and procedures.
- Familiarity with or ability to learn/use other technology management tools employed at Hanford.
- Excellent communication responsiveness and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

Work Location: Work shall be conducted at the Hanford Field Office and the Hanford Site in Richland, WA.
Compensation:
Salary is commensurate with education and experience and may range between $95k to $140k annually.
