Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Mixed Waste SME to perform a mixed waste audit at a secure nuclear operations facility.

 

Position Type

Short-Term / Project-Based Engagement (On-site 1–2 days; remainder remote for analysis and report preparation)

 

Clearance Requirement

Active DOE L or Q Clearance (required)

 

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced environmental professional with an active DOE L or Q clearance to perform a comprehensive Mixed Waste Audit at a secure nuclear operations facility. The audit will evaluate mixed waste streams from generation through final shipment, ensuring compliance with applicable DOE Orders, RCRA requirements, and site-specific procedures in a complex nuclear manufacturing and operations environment.

 

The engagement will include 1–2 days on-site to conduct interviews, observe operations, and review documentation, followed by off-site analysis and formal audit report development.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Active DOE L or Q clearance
  • Demonstrated experience with mixed waste management in DOE regulated environments
  • Experience conducting environmental audits, assessments, or compliance reviews
  • Working knowledge of:
  • RCRA mixed waste regulations
  • DOE Orders related to waste management
  • Waste characterization, tracking, and documentation requirements
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce professional audit reports
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with mixed low-level waste (MLLW) and nuclear manufacturing or fuel development operations
