Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced environmental professional with an active DOE L or Q clearance to perform a comprehensive Mixed Waste Audit at a secure nuclear operations facility. The audit will evaluate mixed waste streams from generation through final shipment, ensuring compliance with applicable DOE Orders, RCRA requirements, and site-specific procedures in a complex nuclear manufacturing and operations environment.
The engagement will include 1–2 days on-site to conduct interviews, observe operations, and review documentation, followed by off-site analysis and formal audit report development.
Required Qualifications:
- Active DOE L or Q clearance
- Demonstrated experience with mixed waste management in DOE regulated environments
- Experience conducting environmental audits, assessments, or compliance reviews
- Working knowledge of:
- RCRA mixed waste regulations
- DOE Orders related to waste management
- Waste characterization, tracking, and documentation requirements
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce professional audit reports
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with mixed low-level waste (MLLW) and nuclear manufacturing or fuel development operations
