Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Project Manager opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN.
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager with 20+ years of progressive project management, engineering, construction, and/or capital project experience to lead complex, high-value projects for nuclear, high-hazard, and process manufacturing environments. Seeking candidates with a demonstrated record of safely and successfully managing large-scale capital projects valued at $200 million to $300+ million, with responsibility for project execution from planning and engineering through procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout. This position requires strong technical and leadership capabilities, a thorough understanding of progressive engineering practices, quality standards, OSHA requirements, project controls, and risk management, and the ability to effectively lead multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership and direction for complex capital projects with total project values of approximately $200 million to $300+ million.
- Manage projects throughout the full lifecycle, including conceptual planning, engineering and design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning/startup, turnover, and project closeout.
- Establish project execution strategies, objectives, milestones, schedules, budgets, staffing requirements, and performance expectations.
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams consisting of engineering, construction, procurement, project controls, quality, safety, operations, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Apply progressive engineering principles and practices to support efficient project development, constructability, risk reduction, cost management, and successful project delivery.
- Ensure engineering and construction activities comply with applicable quality assurance/quality control standards, OSHA requirements, environmental requirements, codes, regulations, and site-specific procedures.
- Maintain a strong safety culture appropriate for nuclear, high-hazard, and process manufacturing environments, ensuring that safety is fully integrated into project planning and execution.
- Develop, manage, and maintain project baselines for scope, cost, schedule, and performance.
- Monitor project performance using established project controls and proactively identify schedule, cost, technical, quality, safety, and execution risks.
- Oversee contractor and subcontractor performance, including scope development, bid evaluations, contract execution, change management, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
- Manage project changes and ensure appropriate technical, cost, schedule, quality, and safety reviews are completed prior to implementation.
- Facilitate project reviews, design reviews, constructability reviews, risk assessments, readiness reviews, and executive-level project status meetings.
- Develop and present clear project reports, forecasts, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Build productive relationships with clients, operations personnel, engineering organizations, contractors, regulatory stakeholders, and executive leadership.
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with organizational governance requirements and applicable federal, state, and site-specific standards.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to project managers, engineers, project controls personnel, and other members of the project organization.
Qualifications:
- 20+ years of progressive experience in project management, engineering, construction management, or major capital project delivery.
- Demonstrated experience managing capital projects valued at $200 million to $300+ million.
- Significant project experience within a nuclear, high-hazard, and/or process manufacturing environment is required.
- Strong knowledge of progressive engineering practices and the integration of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations.
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM/EVMS) and formal project controls systems.
- Thorough understanding of quality standards, quality assurance/quality control programs, and disciplined project execution requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA requirements and industrial/construction safety practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project scope, cost, schedule, risk, quality, safety, contracts, and change control on highly complex projects.
- Experience leading large, multidisciplinary project teams and managing engineering, construction, and specialty contractors.
- Strong understanding of project controls, including scheduling, estimating, cost forecasting, performance measurement, and risk management.
- Proven ability to operate successfully in highly regulated environments with rigorous documentation, configuration, quality, and safety requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical personnel, field organizations, contractors, clients, regulators, and executive leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field.
- Knowledge of DOE project management, nuclear safety, quality assurance, and project execution requirements.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
