Senior Frontend Developer (Gaming)

Salary £50-65k

Location - Hybrid / Oxford (office 1 day a month)

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior frontend developer for an exciting Gaming Studio building gaming platforms for casino iGaming operators worldwide. Based in Oxford our client offers a remote UK first but has 1 day a month office policy for collaboration days.

The SNR HTML Developer will be responsible for implementing and tuning high quality, optimised, maintainable code within a framework, ensuring the best user experience imaginable. Ideally with experience developing games and software for the casino industry, but not essential, if you have a passion for gaming and front end development,

As an experienced Front End developer you will have worked on a variety of highly available applications and have experience collaborating with engineering teams around the world to design and maintain ground-breaking features. You will be continually excited by technology advances and innovations. You will have the experience and knowledge to contribute to technology decisions and architecture discussions, advocating for engineering best practices across the teams you work with and acting as a mentor to junior members.

You will have excellent communication and analytical skills with an ability to think on your feet, with a Mobile-First development mentality. You will be comfortable with facilitation and planning tools such as Jira and Confluence as well as having a propensity for learning new tools and technologies to enhance your skillset.

You will bring a wealth of experience in developing using modern frontend technologies and be able to lead and inform on best practice in terms of overall development practices.

Mandatory Skills

• 5yrs experience working with HTML5 and TypeScript in a mobile and desktop environment
• Experience with PixiJS, Phaser or other JavaScript gaming/animation framework

Nice to have skills

• Knowledge of CSS, PostCSS, and SASS/SCSS.
• Knowledge of CSS frameworks (Tailwind, Bootstrap etc) and responsive design techniques.
• Passion for technologies and a desire to remain up to date with the latest skills;
• Ideally a maths, statistics or physics background, or 3D development experience
• Excellent knowledge on platform specific and cross platform capabilities and constraints
• Experience with JavaScript build tools (e.g. Gulp, Vite, Rollup)
•   Proficient knowledge of animations techniques using WebGL or Canvas 2D APIs.
• Solid experience working with source control platforms and tools such as GIT and SVN.
