A healthcare center is seeking to hire a dedicated and experienced Obstetrician/Gynecologist (OB/GYN MD). The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing exceptional prenatal care, managing labor and delivery, and ensuring the well-being of expectant mothers and their babies. This role involves delivering high-quality obstetric care, performing obstetrical procedures, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to promote healthy pregnancies and childbirth experiences.
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive prenatal care to expectant mothers, including initial assessments, routine check-ups, and prenatal screenings.
Monitor fetal development, maternal health, and pregnancy progress through regular prenatal visits.
Counsel patients on prenatal nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle modifications to promote a healthy pregnancy.
Diagnose and manage pregnancy-related complications such as gestational diabetes, hypertension, and preterm labor.
Manage labor and delivery processes, including assessing labor progression, monitoring fetal well-being, and providing pain management options.
Perform vaginal deliveries, instrumental deliveries (forceps or vacuum extraction), and cesarean sections as necessary, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and baby.
Respond promptly to obstetrical emergencies, including obstetrical hemorrhage, fetal distress, and shoulder dystocia, utilizing appropriate interventions and protocols.
Collaborate with anesthesia providers, neonatologists, and nursing staff to coordinate care during labor and delivery.
Conduct postpartum assessments and provide postpartum care to new mothers, addressing physical recovery, emotional well-being, and newborn care.
Offer breastfeeding support and guidance to mothers to promote successful breastfeeding initiation and continuation.
Monitor and manage postpartum complications such as postpartum hemorrhage, perineal tears, and postpartum mood disorders.
Perform obstetrical procedures such as fetal ultrasound examinations, fetal monitoring, and amniocentesis when indicated.
Conduct external cephalic versions (ECV) to attempt to turn breech-presenting fetuses into the vertex position.
Perform cerclage placement for the management of cervical insufficiency and prevention of preterm birth.
Collaborate with maternal-fetal medicine specialists for the management of high-risk pregnancies and fetal anomalies.
Work collaboratively with midwives, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care throughout the prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum periods.
Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education, support, and guidance throughout the pregnancy and childbirth journey.
Consult and collaborate with colleagues in obstetrics and other specialties for complex obstetrical cases and multidisciplinary care.
Qualifications:
Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
Residency training in obstetrics and gynecology.
Board certification or eligibility in obstetrics and gynecology.
NY state medical licensure and DEA registration.
Excellent clinical skills in obstetrics, including proficiency in managing labor and delivery.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate bedside manner.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
