As a Field Applications Engineer, you will work directly with cloud service providers, hyperscalers, AI infrastructure companies, and OEM platform developers. You will help their engineering teams address one of the industry’s most consequential technical challenges: efficiently and reliably delivering power to increasingly dense, power-intensive computing platforms.

This is not simply a post-sales support position. You will influence customer architectures, product requirements, technology roadmaps, and the company’s future power-conversion portfolio.

Our client develops intelligent power-conversion and power-management solutions that help customers protect, control, and optimize critical electrical infrastructure.

Its technologies support demanding applications across data centers, telecommunications, industrial systems, and other environments where reliability, efficiency, power density, and uptime are essential.

The company’s critical-power portfolio includes board-mounted power, front-end power systems, DC/DC conversion, and power architectures designed for next-generation AI and high-performance computing infrastructure.


The Opportunity


The Field Applications Engineer will serve as the technical link between customers, the sales organization, product management, and engineering teams.

You will engage with system architects, power engineers, hardware designers, and technical decision-makers to understand their power requirements and help specify high-efficiency solutions for servers, storage systems, networking equipment, Open Compute Project platforms, and AI infrastructure.

Reporting to the Data Center Sales Leader, this is a high-visibility individual-contributor position offering meaningful customer exposure and long-term career-development potential.


What You Will Do


  • Provide advanced technical sales support to cloud service providers, hyperscale data centers, AI infrastructure companies, and OEM platform developers.
  • Work directly with customer architects and engineering teams to understand system-level power requirements, technical constraints, and future platform needs.
  • Recommend and help specify board-mount power, front-end power, AC/DC, DC/DC, HVDC, and related power-conversion solutions.
  • Identify new design opportunities and help customers evaluate solutions for servers, storage, networking, OCP, AI, and high-performance computing platforms.
  • Partner with Global Account Managers to develop technical strategies for assigned accounts.
  • Serve as the customer’s technical advocate, communicating product gaps, emerging requirements, and Voice of the Customer feedback to engineering, product management, and executive leadership.
  • Deliver technical presentations, design reviews, product demonstrations, and technology-roadmap seminars.
  • Translate customer application requirements into technical specifications for new products and product enhancements.
  • Collaborate with R&D and product management to guide product development and help shape future product and technology roadmaps.
  • Support the development of datasheets, application materials, technical documentation, and customer-facing product presentations.
  • Monitor data-center power trends, competitive activity, customer roadmaps, and emerging application requirements.
  • Evaluate competing products and provide insight into the technical and commercial landscape.
  • Provide hands-on technical troubleshooting and application support when required.


What You Bring


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least four years of experience solving technical problems and providing high-level customer support within the power electronics or power-conversion industry.
  • Working knowledge of power-supply applications and the ability to communicate effectively with customer engineering teams.
  • Residence within the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% during a typical workweek.


Preferred Technical Experience


  • Eight or more years of experience in power electronics, power conversion, or power-supply applications.
  • Advanced engineering or technical degree.
  • Experience designing, manufacturing, supporting, or specifying power supplies.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC and DC/DC power-conversion topologies.
  • Understanding of board-mount power, front-end power, OCP architectures, or high-voltage DC power distribution.
  • Understanding of how power-conversion products are integrated into servers, storage systems, networking equipment, data centers, or AI computing platforms.
  • Familiarity with digital power interfaces and communication protocols, including I²C and PMBus.
  • Knowledge of power-product regulatory and agency requirements, including safety standards, electromagnetic interference, input surge, and harmonic requirements.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, electronic loads, power supplies, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience within an electronics or power-supply manufacturing organization.
  • Familiarity with gated engineering-development and new-product introduction processes.
  • Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce and sales-enablement tools.


The Ideal Candidate


The strongest candidate will combine credible power-electronics knowledge with the ability to build trusted relationships inside technically sophisticated customer organizations.

You should be comfortable moving between the laboratory, the customer conference room, and internal product-roadmap discussions. You can troubleshoot a technical problem, explain a complex power architecture, uncover a new design opportunity, and communicate customer priorities to senior leadership.
