Funeral Director/Embalmer Apprentice

Eligibility Requirement: Must be in the final semester of an accredited Funeral Services degree program and able to obtain provisional licensure in Florida.
Role Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Funeral Director/Embalmer Apprentice to join our team in Arcadia, FL. This role is designed for a student completing their final semester of a funeral services education program who is ready to apply classroom learning in a professional, hands-on setting. Under the supervision of licensed Funeral Directors and Embalmers, you will participate in all aspects of funeral service operations—including arrangement conferences, preparation room procedures, removals, service coordination, and family care.
This position is ideal for someone dedicated to serving families with dignity, professionalism, and empathy while gaining the practical experience required for licensure.
Key Responsibilities
Arrangement & Family Care
- Assist with meeting families, gathering vital information, and supporting arrangement conferences.
- Prepare documents, permits, and administrative tasks under supervision.
- Help coordinate visitations, services, and interments with staff and third-party partners.
Preparation Room & Technical Skills
- Assist with embalming, dressing, casketing, cosmetics, and restorative procedures under licensed supervision.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant preparation room environment.
- Support transfer and removal duties in a professional and respectful manner.
Funeral Service Operations
- Assist with setting up chapels, graveside services, equipment, and vehicles.
- Participate in transportation, procession logistics, and overall service execution.
- Handle decedent care with accuracy, respect, and confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in the final semester of an accredited funeral service education program.
- Eligible for—or currently holding—Florida provisional/apprentice licensure.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Strong interpersonal skills, emotional maturity, and ability to support grieving families.
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs with assistance and perform physical aspects of the role.
