Tax Manager
Location: New Hampshire
Work Arrangement: On-site
Employment Type: Full-time
Compensation: $120,000-$150,000
We are partnering with a well-established public accounting firm in New Hampshire to find an experienced Tax Manager who is ready to take the next step in their career.
This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys staying technically engaged while also leading client relationships, mentoring developing professionals, and providing strategic guidance to closely held businesses and their owners.
You’ll manage a diverse portfolio of tax engagements, work directly with clients and professional advisors, and join a collaborative team that genuinely values professional development, work-life balance, and long-term relationships.
If you’re looking for a role where you can make an impact without stepping away from the technical work you enjoy, this could be a great fit.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and review complex business, individual, trust, and other tax returns with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
- Manage tax engagements from planning through final delivery, keeping projects organized and deadlines on track.
- Identify proactive tax planning opportunities and provide practical, value-added recommendations to clients.
- Research complex federal and state tax matters and communicate findings clearly.
- Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients, attorneys, bankers, taxing authorities, and other professional advisors.
- Develop a deep understanding of clients’ businesses, goals, and long-term financial needs.
- Delegate assignments effectively and provide thoughtful, actionable review feedback.
- Mentor and develop associates and senior-level team members through coaching, technical guidance, and ongoing feedback.
- Collaborate with professionals across service lines to identify additional ways to support clients.
- Participate in networking, relationship development, and community involvement to support continued firm growth.
What We’re Looking For
- 6+ years of public accounting tax experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing complex business and individual tax returns.
- Solid knowledge of federal and state taxation, particularly for closely held businesses and their owners.
- CPA license preferred.
- Strong client service and relationship-building abilities.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and priorities effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A genuine interest in mentoring and developing other accounting professionals.
You’ll Stand Out If You
- Enjoy remaining hands-on with complex tax work while also leading and reviewing engagements.
- Naturally enjoy coaching and developing other professionals.
- Build long-term client relationships and want to become a trusted advisor beyond annual tax compliance.
- Look proactively for planning opportunities rather than simply reacting to deadlines.
- Enjoy researching and solving challenging tax issues.
- Value a collaborative environment where team members support one another.
