Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Care

Salary: Competitive + benefits

Contract: Permanent, full-time

About the opportunity

A well-established care provider is looking for an experienced Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of its children’s residential services. This is a key leadership role, either as Registered Manager under OFSTED or managing services under the supervision of a Registered Manager.

You’ll lead a team supporting children and young people with complex needs, ensuring they receive high-quality, person-centred care built on the values of privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights and fulfilment – while driving compliance, quality and positive outcomes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Taking overall responsibility for the management and day-to-day running of designated services.
  • Leading, developing and motivating support workers, team leaders, deputies and assistant managers.
  • Ensuring safe, appropriately skilled staffing levels through effective rota, budget and resource management.
  • Owning quality and compliance – regular audits, Reg 44 independent visits and 6-monthly Reg 45 reviews.
  • Maintaining and reviewing individual Support Plans and Risk Management Plans, and leading on safeguarding.
  • Managing staff performance through induction, supervision, appraisals and, where needed, investigations.
  • Building strong relationships with young people, families, placing authorities, OFSTED and other professionals.
  • Participating in the on-call management rota to ensure emergency cover.

About you

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or Level 5 Health & Social Care).
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a children’s home setting, plus management experience within care.
  • Sound knowledge of OFSTED regulations, the SCCIF and the Children’s Act 2004 (CQC experience welcomed).
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex needs and managing safeguarding concerns.
  • Proven ability in auditing, regulatory compliance and staff management (recruitment, appraisals, discipline).
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills, with confidence handling crisis situations.
  • Able to take on on-call duties including weekends. Enhanced DBS required.

The package

  • Competitive salary plus benefits.
  • Permanent, full-time role with a supportive and established provider.
  • Genuine scope to develop your team and shape high-quality services.
