Position Summary
A mission-driven public safety technology company is seeking a Senior Vice President of Sales to lead national revenue strategy, build sales discipline, and scale the commercial organization during a significant growth phase.
This is a senior executive sales leadership role for someone who has already built and led a national or multi-region sales organization in a scaling business. The company serves fire departments, emergency management agencies, law enforcement, emergency operations centers, state agencies, regional authorities, and broader public safety organizations with technology that supports incident intelligence, situational awareness, secure information sharing, evacuation management, and common operating picture capabilities.
The SVP of Sales will own sales strategy, pipeline development, new customer acquisition, account expansion, forecasting, sales process, executive-level customer engagement, and future sales team buildout. This person must be both strategic and hands-on — capable of leading major agency opportunities while also inspecting CRM discipline, deal stages, forecast accuracy, and pipeline quality.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and own the company’s national sales strategy across public safety, government, and mission-critical technology markets
• Build, scale, and professionalize the sales organization as the company expands nationally
• Own revenue targets, pipeline development, forecasting, sales process, and commercial execution
• Create a disciplined operating cadence around CRM hygiene, deal stages, pipeline quality, forecast accuracy, and accountability
• Lead complex, long-cycle sales opportunities with fire departments, emergency management agencies, law enforcement, EOCs, state agencies, regional authorities, and large municipal governments
• Build executive-level relationships with agency leadership, command staff, government executives, procurement stakeholders, and strategic partners
• Coach, mentor, and hold sales team members accountable to performance expectations
• Develop sales processes that support long procurement cycles, budget timelines, funding models, and multi-stakeholder decision-making
• Partner closely with the CEO and executive leadership team on growth strategy, market expansion, revenue planning, and organizational priorities
• Represent the company externally at customer meetings, conferences, industry events, and public safety forums
• Help expand the company from a relationship-driven sales model into a repeatable, scalable, national commercial organization
Required Qualifications
• Significant sales leadership experience in a scaling business
• Proven experience building and leading a national or multi-region sales team
• Demonstrated ownership of revenue targets and commercial outcomes
• Experience selling into government, public sector, public safety, mission-critical, or highly regulated markets
• Strong understanding of long sales cycles, public sector procurement, budget timelines, funding models, and complex stakeholder decision-making
• Experience selling to executive-level buyers, agency leadership, command staff, or senior government decision-makers
• Ability to build pipeline, forecast accurately, coach sellers, and close complex deals
• Strong CRM discipline and ability to create sales process, operating cadence, and accountability
• Executive presence, negotiation skills, and strong relationship-building ability
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in SaaS, GovTech, public safety technology, emergency management technology, incident management, situational awareness, CAD/RMS-adjacent platforms, GIS, emergency alerting, or mission-critical government software
• Direct exposure to fire, EMS, law enforcement, emergency management, emergency operations centers, state agencies, regional authorities, or large municipal governments
• Experience scaling a sales organization through a high-growth or private equity-backed environment
• Background selling complex technology solutions into public agencies
• Existing credibility or network within the public safety market
• Prior experience as a firefighter, law enforcement professional, emergency management leader, or public safety practitioner is a plus, but only when paired with proven sales leadership success
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a senior sales executive who knows how to build, scale, lead, forecast, coach, and drive accountability in a growing commercial organization.
This person will bring structure, urgency, discipline, and executive-level sales leadership. They should be confident enough to challenge the organization commercially, while also humble enough to listen carefully to public safety customers and understand the relationship-driven nature of the market.
The right candidate understands that public safety sales are complex, reputation-sensitive, and highly relationship-based. Sales cycles may run 12–18 months, and success requires trust, credibility, procurement knowledge, executive engagement, and a deep respect for the customer’s mission.
