Position Summary
The Managing Restoration Engineer is a senior-level engineering leadership role focused on planning, designing, and delivering complex habitat and ecosystem restoration projects across the Pacific Northwest. This position will lead multidisciplinary restoration initiatives — integrating engineering with ecological principles — to restore rivers, estuaries, wetlands, fish passage, and other natural systems. The successful candidate will balance technical excellence with project leadership, stakeholder collaboration, and business development support.
As an influential voice in the region’s restoration engineering community, this engineer will guide project teams, mentor staff, and contribute to the firm’s long-term growth in restoration markets. What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage multi-stakeholder restoration engineering projects from concept through implementation
- Provide technical leadership for habitat restoration, fish passage, riverine and estuary projects
- Develop engineering designs, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, scopes, and quality control activities
- Engage proactively with clients, agencies, tribes, non-governmental partners, and community stakeholders
- Support business development by identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and fostering client relationships
- Mentor and supervise junior to mid-level engineers and technical staff
- Integrate ecological principles with engineering solutions on nature-based restoration work
- Stay current on best practices, technical innovations, and regulatory frameworks influencing restoration engineering
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Water Resources, Environmental, Hydraulic, or related engineering field
- Significant professional experience in restoration engineering, water resources, or related environmental engineering roles
- Strong project management experience leading complex, multidisciplinary efforts
- Proven ability to integrate engineering with ecological and hydraulics principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client, stakeholder, and team engagement
- Ability to manage budgets, technical scopes, schedules, and deliverables concurrently
- Eligible or licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing and implementing restoration solutions in riverine, coastal, estuarine, or wetland environments
- Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, sediment transport analysis, or ecological assessment tools
- Demonstrated history of business development or proposal leadership
- Prior mentorship and team leadership experience
- Established professional network in Pacific Northwest restoration or natural resources sectors
