Compensation: $110,000 - $150,000

Position Summary

The Sr. Human Resources Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all HR functions at a large, unionized manufacturing facility. This position partners closely with plant leadership to drive employee relations, labor relations, workforce planning, and cultural transformation in a demanding industrial environment.

This is a high-impact, standalone HR leadership role requiring a confident, hands-on leader who can influence operations, hold leaders accountable, and drive meaningful change. The role focuses on improving engagement, strengthening performance management, and ensuring compliance while supporting a diverse, hourly workforce.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead all HR functions for the facility, acting as the primary HR leader onsite
  • Drive employee relations and labor relations strategy across a unionized workforce
  • Conduct investigations, manage discipline, and ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies
  • Partner with plant leadership to improve culture, accountability, and performance
  • Coach and advise leaders on talent management, performance management, and employee engagement
  • Monitor key workforce metrics including turnover, absenteeism, and time-to-fill
  • Support workforce planning and staffing for hourly and frontline roles
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives and morale-building programs
  • Manage union interactions and support negotiations as needed
  • Develop, implement, and enforce HR policies and procedures
  • Utilize HRIS systems to track data, generate reports, and inform decision-making
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders and external community partners


What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field OR 7+ years of relevant HR experience
  • 5–7+ years of progressive HR experience in manufacturing, industrial, or similar environments
  • Strong employee relations experience, including investigations and performance management
  • Experience working in a unionized environment (highly critical)
  • Solid knowledge of labor laws and HR compliance (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, etc.)
  • Experience supporting frontline supervisors and hourly workforce populations
  • Ability to manage high-volume, day-to-day HR issues with minimal oversight
  • Strong communication skills and ability to handle difficult conversations
  • Experience using HRIS systems for reporting and workforce data analysis


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as an HR Manager or Sr. HR Manager
  • Experience in lean manufacturing or industrial operations
  • PHR, SPHR, or SHRM certification
  • Experience influencing leadership teams and broader business strategy
  • Background in rail, heavy manufacturing, oil & gas, or similar industrial environments
