Compensation: $150,000 – $185,000

Position Summary
A global industrial manufacturing organization is seeking a Regional Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Director to lead and advance EHS strategy and performance across a multi-site North American manufacturing footprint. This role serves as the senior regional authority for SHE, responsible for driving consistent standards, regulatory compliance, and cultural transformation across diverse chemical and industrial operations.
The Regional SHE Director will operate as a strategic business partner to plant leadership and regional operations executives while maintaining strong field presence. Success in this role requires the ability to balance hands-on credibility, regulatory depth, and executive-level influence in a complex, high-risk manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Do
- Provide regional leadership and strategic direction for Safety, Health, and Environmental programs
- Own SHE performance across multiple manufacturing sites, including chemical processing operations
- Drive consistent implementation of corporate and regional EHS standards
- Partner with regional and site leadership to embed safety and environmental accountability
- Lead serious incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action execution
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Guide sites through regulatory inspections, audits, and enforcement actions
- Develop, coach, and mentor site-level SHE leaders and managers
- Influence capital planning, process safety, and risk mitigation initiatives
- Analyze regional trends and metrics to drive proactive risk reduction
- Champion continuous improvement in safety culture, environmental performance, and compliance maturity
- Serve as a trusted advisor during operational changes, expansions, and transformations
What You Bring
- Extensive experience in Safety, Health & Environmental leadership within manufacturing or chemical operations
- Proven success leading multi-site or regional EHS programs
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and environmental permitting/compliance
- Experience operating in high-hazard, regulated industrial environments
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and plant management teams
- Track record of driving measurable improvements in safety and environmental performance
- Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with regular site engagement
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Chemical manufacturing or process-industry background
- Experience with process safety management (PSM) environments
- Prior regional or global EHS leadership scope
- Strong change management and cultural transformation experience
- CSP, CIH, or similar professional certifications
