Position Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring supplier quality performance across a global supply chain supporting aerospace manufacturing operations. This position works closely with supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to manage supplier partnerships, conduct supplier audits, and drive continuous improvement across supplier quality systems.
This individual will be responsible for supplier qualification, performance monitoring, corrective action management, and maintaining compliance with aerospace quality standards. As the primary Supplier Quality Engineer onsite, this role requires a highly independent professional who can manage supplier relationships, analyze supplier performance data, and implement measurable improvements across the supplier network.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct supplier audits, surveillance activities, and supplier performance evaluations
- Drive supplier quality improvements and ensure supplier quality systems meet organizational requirements
- Issue and manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) and monitor resolution of supplier issues
- Monitor supplier quality performance and identify improvement opportunities
- Maintain supplier quality records including audits, certifications, and corrective action documentation
- Define and manage supplier quality metrics and performance indicators
- Manage the Approved Supplier List (ASL) and ensure supplier compliance documentation remains current
- Support supplier qualification and supplier risk assessment activities
- Partner with engineering and supply chain teams to evaluate new suppliers and define specifications
- Analyze supplier quality data and prepare reports identifying trends and improvement opportunities
- Participate in supplier capability evaluations and work transfer monitoring
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to supplier performance
- Travel to supplier locations domestically and internationally (up to 40%)
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience
- 3+ years of Supplier Quality auditing experience
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standards
- Experience performing supplier audits and managing supplier quality performance
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies such as 8D and CAPA
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with supply chain, engineering, and manufacturing teams
- Ability to analyze supplier performance metrics and implement improvement strategies
- Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and pass a background check and drug screen
Preferred Qualifications
- AS9100 Lead Auditor certification (or ability to obtain certification)
- Aerospace industry experience
- Experience with supplier development or supplier qualification programs
- Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments
