Travel: Yes, up to 15%

 

Compensation: $100,000 to $120,000 – relocation assistance could be offered

Education / Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related fields or equivalent experience including management or supervision experience.

 

Required Experience:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably to include welding, brazing and/or Heat Treat
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management and/or process improvement methodologies.
  • Agile and inquisitive thinker; interested in learning and applying innovative technologies and methodologies.
  • Experience leading root cause investigation and writing reports as needed.
  • Experience in regulated industries preferably in Aerospace industry under As9100 requirements

 

 

Preferred Experience: 

  • NADCAP experience

  

Overview: 

The Senior Quality Engineer will help to develop and improve our manufacturing processes and assist in the implementation of the quality policies and systems. The position shall be responsible for the process design and implementation for new products and continuous improvement opportunities, improve industrial processes to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability. The position will also lead and facilitate the implementation of quality initiatives and their continual improvements.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  

  • Responsible for ensuring that the products produced meet quality standards required to minimize quality costs (COPQ) and maximize customer satisfaction whilst ensuring that procedures and processes are adhered to.
  • Ensure that workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations and quality requirements.
  • Manage all quality-related issues within the operations team (e.g. internal, supplier, customer and customer warranty)
  • Design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Manufacturing Engineers to develop and implement process controls and improvements.
  • Create, revise and improve quality standards, procedures, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans and documents.
  • Monitor and report on quality-related key performance indicators including scrap monitoring, rework levels, parts per million (PPM) figures.
  • Stop production in the event of manufacture of unacceptable products/processes.
  • Ensure compliance and assist with adherence to the Quality Management systems and regulations. (ISO9001/AS9100, AS13100, NADCAP, FAA)
  • Collects, analyzes, and summarizes data; presents data to internal and external audiences. 
  • Develops action items and recommendations based on data reviewed.
  • Participate in or lead the Quality Clinic / MRB activities.
  • Report to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
  • Create, monitor and manage corrective actions reporting CA to customers.
  • Lead or participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Participate in various training as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
  • Analyze internal and customer NCs to find root causes and implement CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions).
  • Support activities that are related to supplier quality improvement, surveys and audits.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements.
  • Conduct various statistical analysis to monitor and control process performance and quality level.
  • Up to 15% travel (domestic and/or international) as necessary. 
  • Performs other activities, projects, or tasks as assigned by Quality Director with minimal supervision.
  • Lead the cross functional teams for root cause investigation and write reports as needed.

 

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with external customers
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Self-manage workload: priorities, multiple tasks, and easily adapt to changing situations
  • Thorough knowledge of process improvement methods and techniques, such as Lean and/or Six Sigma
  • Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Problem-solving skills using methodical and systematic approaches
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Highly proficient with the various MS Office programs
  • Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control 
  • Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques, and documentation
  • Solid organizational and administrative skills
  • Excellent communications and instruction skills
  • Ability to directly communicate with customers and team members in formal/informal environments.
