Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced General Superintendent to oversee field operations across multiple commercial construction projects in the Columbus, Ohio market. This individual will provide leadership and direction to project superintendents, field personnel, and subcontractors, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget expectations, and in accordance with established quality standards.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with commercial ground-up construction, strong leadership and organizational skills, and a proven ability to manage complex field operations while developing and mentoring project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee field operations across multiple commercial construction projects, ensuring consistent execution, quality, safety, and schedule performance.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to project superintendents and other field personnel.
• Monitor project schedules, construction sequencing, manpower planning, and subcontractor performance to ensure milestones are achieved.
• Establish and enforce company safety standards, site-specific safety plans, and OSHA compliance requirements.
• Conduct regular jobsite visits to evaluate progress, identify potential challenges, and ensure adherence to plans, specifications, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, preconstruction teams, estimators, and company leadership to support project planning and execution.
• Assist with staffing, resource allocation, and workforce planning across active and upcoming projects.
• Identify scheduling conflicts, constructability issues, and operational risks, implementing solutions to minimize delays and disruptions.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, trade partners, owners, architects, and other project stakeholders.
• Promote consistent construction processes, best practices, and accountability across all field teams.
• Support project start-up, site logistics planning, quality control, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
• Mentor and develop superintendents and field staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial construction experience, with significant experience in field supervision and leadership.
• Demonstrated experience overseeing multiple commercial construction projects or managing large, complex projects.
• Strong background in ground-up commercial construction, including scheduling, subcontractor coordination, site logistics, and quality control.
• Previous experience as a General Superintendent, Senior Superintendent, or in a similar senior field leadership role preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, building codes, safety regulations, and project delivery processes.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and hold field teams accountable for performance.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with construction management and scheduling software such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project preferred.
• Ability to travel locally between active project sites throughout the Columbus market.
