The Bilingual HR Generalist serves as a key partner to employees, leaders, and operations teams, supporting day-to-day human resources functions within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for employee relations, investigations, performance management, policy administration, training, compliance, and HR operational support. The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR professional who thrives in an employee-facing role, enjoys partnering with leadership, and can independently navigate complex workplace situations while supporting a positive employee experience.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees and leaders across assigned locations and departments
- Partner with managers to address employee relations concerns, conduct investigations, and recommend appropriate resolutions
- Support performance management initiatives including coaching, counseling, corrective action, and progressive discipline
- Provide guidance and interpretation of company policies, procedures, and employment practices
- Facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation programs
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
- Track and administer compliance-related training, certifications, and employee development programs
- Support payroll administration and serve as backup for payroll processes as needed
- Conduct exit interviews and assist with employee offboarding activities
- Partner with leadership to drive employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives
- Assist with HR projects and programs related to compensation, benefits, leave administration, talent management, and organizational development
- Support HR audits and reporting requirements while maintaining data integrity and confidentiality
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in an employee-facing Human Resources role
- Fluent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
- Strong employee relations and workplace investigation experience
- Experience supporting performance management, coaching leaders, and administering disciplinary processes
- Knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including Illinois employment practices
- Experience working within manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or union environments preferred
- Experience utilizing HRIS systems, ATS platforms, and Microsoft 365
- Payroll processing experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality
