EBTDI Ventures is a Uganda-based organization advancing African-led climate action through the Every Birthday Tree Day Initiative (EBTDI). Having already engaged 300+ youth, reached 10+ schools, and planted 15,000+ trees, EBTDI Ventures is expanding its platform toward deeper institutional partnerships, strengthened ESG governance, climate finance engagement, and responsible regional scale.
Position Overview
This executive mandate is designed to transition an impact-driven climate action initiative into a structured, fundable, and scalable institution across Uganda and East Africa. The incoming officer will serve as the chief sustainability architect, strategic external partner, and resource mobilisation lead, translating community-based environmental action into high-integrity ESG frameworks, institutional partnerships, and measurable impact.
Strategic Mandate & Key Responsibilities
- Sustainability & ESG Governance
- Build, formalize, and institutionalize the organisation's ESG framework, operating standards, risk registers, and reporting systems.
- Ensure climate action and environmental claims are evidence-based, transparent, and compliant with international standards and funder expectations.
- Design internal governance controls, compliance review mechanisms, and decision-making protocols.
- External Partnerships & Institutional Positioning
- Position EBTDI Ventures as a credible, African-led sustainability partner across East Africa.
- Cultivate high-level relationships with institutional funders, corporate ESG/CSR programs, climate networks, educational institutions, and government bodies.
- Represent the organisation in executive forums, donor briefings, and regional climate platforms.
- Resource Mobilisation & Climate Finance
- Formulate and execute a diversified resource mobilisation strategy targeting grants, philanthropic funds, corporate CSR/ESG budgets, and climate finance platforms.
- Translate field programs into fundable concepts, pitch decks, proposals, and impact investment narratives.
- Establish due diligence readiness and donor-facing financial transparency protocols.
- Climate Impact Performance & Responsible Scale
- Establish robust M&E systems to measure tree survival rates, youth participation, school outreach, and community restoration outcomes.
- Develop scalable models for youth-led and school-based environmental action to support disciplined expansion across East Africa.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
- Qualifications & Background

Education: Degree or advanced credential in Sustainability, ESG, Environmental Management, Climate Policy, Development Economics, Business Administration, Governance, or related fields.

Experience: Proven senior leadership in ESG strategy, climate finance, non-profit growth, donor relations, corporate CSR, or impact management within Africa or emerging-market contexts.

Track Record: Demonstrated success in writing winning proposals, building funder pipelines, establishing institutional partnerships, and building organizational systems from early-stage momentum.

Language: Must be fluent in English. Additional languages beyond English are not required but are welcomed as a nice-to-have.
