Engagement Overview & Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior UX Researcher for a 4–6 month remote contract with a premier enterprise AI organization. This role will lead user research, workflow mapping, and operational experience strategy for critical internal infrastructure and developer tooling platforms.
Partnering closely with engineering, product, and operations leads, you will lead end-to-end qualitative research initiatives to uncover user friction across complex systems, helping transform technical procedures into intuitive, scalable software and developer experiences.

Internal Systems Engineers: Domain experts overseeing large-scale platform architecture, automation pipelines, and core systems configuration.

Operations & Monitoring Partners: Tiered operations teams responsible for daily monitoring, incident triage, and ongoing platform health.

Field Techs: Technical specialists managing physical deployments, site bring-ups, and hands-on maintenance.
Key Responsibilities

Qualitative Field & User Research: Plan and execute qualitative research studies, including contextual inquiry, remote interviews, observational sessions, and task analysis—with technical user groups.

Workflow Mapping & Blueprinting: Map complex end-to-end user journeys, technical dependencies, and cross-functional handoffs to identify operational bottlenecks.

Developer & Systems Tooling Usability: Evaluate web portals, CLI utilities, telemetry dashboards, and API workflows to improve usability and reduce cognitive load.

Strategic Insights & Recommendations: Translate complex technical observations into clear, actionable UX recommendations, wireframes, and product requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product management, engineering leads, and technical stakeholders to advocate for user-centered design in high-stakes infrastructure environments.
Qualifications & Requirements

Experience: 5+ years of UX / Design Research experience, with a proven track record in enterprise software, developer tools, cloud infrastructure, hardware/IoT systems, or complex technical platforms.

Technical Fluency: Ability to quickly grasp highly technical domains, system architectures, CLI workflows, and engineering platforms.

Methodological Mastery: Deep expertise in qualitative research methods (contextual inquiry, cognitive walkthroughs, usability testing, and service blueprinting).

Communication & Synthesis: Exceptional ability to distill nuanced technical feedback into strategic product insights and visual workflow models.
