Position Overview

A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Epic Beacon Protocol Builders to support a large-scale Epic implementation within its oncology research and clinical trials environment.

These consultants will focus primarily on the hands-on build and configuration of Beacon protocols and treatment plans, partnering closely with clinical, pharmacy, research, and Epic application teams throughout the implementation.

This is a highly specialized role requiring both clinical expertise as an RN or Pharmacist and significant hands-on experience building within Epic Beacon.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, configure, test, and maintain Epic Beacon oncology protocols, treatment plans, therapy plans, and regimens.
• Support Beacon build specifically related to research and clinical trial protocols.
• Translate complex oncology and research requirements into effective Epic Beacon configuration.
• Partner with pharmacists, nurses, physicians, research teams, and Epic application leadership to validate clinical workflows and protocol requirements.
• Support testing, validation, troubleshooting, and optimization throughout the Epic implementation.
• Ensure Beacon build aligns with clinical safety, oncology workflows, research requirements, and organizational standards.
• Assist with migration and deployment of Epic configuration across environments using established Epic tools and processes.
• Participate in implementation milestones and go-live readiness activities through the completion of the project.

Required Qualifications

• Current Epic Beacon certification.
• Professional clinical background as either a licensed RN or Pharmacist/PharmD.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience building Epic Beacon oncology protocols and treatment plans.
• Strong understanding of oncology, chemotherapy, infusion, and medication workflows.
• Experience participating in Epic implementations, major upgrades, or significant Beacon build initiatives.
• Ability to independently own complex Beacon build assignments and collaborate with clinical and technical stakeholders.

Highly Preferred Experience

• Epic Beacon build experience supporting research and/or clinical trials.
• Previous experience within a cancer center, oncology research organization, or academic medical center.
• Epic Data Courier badge.
• Epic Research / Clinical Trials certification, proficiency, or significant hands-on experience.
• Experience supporting multiple Epic implementations or enterprise-scale oncology programs.
• Familiarity with clinical trial treatment plans, investigational protocols, and research-specific oncology workflows.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal consultant is an Epic Beacon-certified RN or Pharmacist/PharmD who has personally built oncology treatment plans and protocols within Epic, rather than solely supporting Beacon operationally. Candidates with direct experience translating clinical trial and research protocols into Beacon builds within a cancer center or academic healthcare environment will be especially well aligned.

This is a long-term contract opportunity to play a key role in a major Epic implementation and support the development of highly specialized oncology and research workflows.
