Technical Curriculum Engineer (Contract)
Location: San Francisco, CA, New York, NY, or Remote
Employment Type: Contract
About the Role
We are seeking a Technical Curriculum Engineer to help build and scale technical enablement programs for a leading AI technology organization.
This role will be responsible for curating, developing, and maintaining the technical curriculum used across go-to-market onboarding and ongoing enablement programs. Content will span a broad portfolio of AI products and technical surfaces, including enterprise solutions, end-user AI applications, developer tools, APIs, models, and emerging AI protocols.
You will transform existing technical materials, product documentation, and subject matter expertise into structured, reusable learning experiences, including courses, hands-on labs, working demos, exercises, and presentations.
This is a highly hands-on role. The ideal candidate can not only explain technical concepts clearly, but can also build working demonstrations and labs using APIs and AI products and translate those experiences into effective technical learning content.
Key Responsibilities
- Curate existing technical materials into structured, reusable curriculum for technical onboarding and ongoing enablement programs.
- Design and build new technical courses, hands-on labs, demos, exercises, and presentations across enterprise, application, developer, API, and AI product areas.
- Develop practical exercises that work reliably in live classroom and technical onboarding environments.
- Build and validate working demos against APIs, developer platforms, and AI products.
- Maintain curriculum as products evolve, updating labs, demonstrations, documentation, and presentations with each relevant release cycle.
- Translate complex product and engineering concepts into clear, technically accurate, and teachable content.
- Partner with technical enablement leads, program owners, product marketing, and subject matter experts to establish content priorities.
- Organize and document curriculum sources, dependencies, and structure so materials remain maintainable and scalable after handoff.
- Identify content gaps and proactively recommend new learning experiences based on product changes and enablement needs.
Required Qualifications
- Technical background in Solutions Engineering, Developer Relations, Developer Education, Technical Training, Technical Enablement, or a similar technical discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to build working technical demos, labs, or exercises using APIs and software products.
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to make complex concepts understandable without sacrificing technical accuracy.
- Experience with instructional design, technical education, curriculum development, or structured enablement content.
- Ability to transform raw technical materials, documentation, and subject matter expertise into polished learning experiences.
- Comfortable working across technical product areas and quickly learning new tools, platforms, and workflows.
- Highly self-directed and able to take ownership of a product area or content backlog with limited day-to-day management.
- Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs), generative AI applications, AI APIs, or developer platforms.
- Previous curriculum development or enablement experience supporting technical go-to-market audiences, including Solutions Engineers, technical sellers, customer-facing engineers, or implementation teams.
- Experience building developer education or technical onboarding programs.
- Familiarity with modern AI coding tools, enterprise AI applications, APIs, and agentic or model-based workflows.
- Experience maintaining technical curriculum in a rapidly evolving product environment.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means creating technical learning experiences that are accurate, practical, reusable, and easy to maintain.
You will help ensure technical go-to-market teams have the courses, labs, demonstrations, and supporting materials they need to confidently understand and communicate increasingly sophisticated AI products.
The strongest candidate will sit at the intersection of technical engineering, developer education, and instructional design: someone who can build the demo, understand how it works, and then turn it into an effective learning experience for others.
