Mobile Engineer (React Native) — Mission-Driven Tech Startup

They’re now looking to add an experienced Mobile Engineer to their remote team. This role offers the chance to work on an app that blends complex offline capabilities with intuitive, elegant UX — all in service of a global user base that spans both casual learners and deeply committed daily users. You’ll work closely with a small, agile team focused on quality, clarity, and meaningful impact.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and maintain cross-platform mobile applications using React Native, React, Kotlin, and SQL
• Own feature development end-to-end, delivering high-quality code with minimal oversight
• Partner with product, design, and backend teams to scope, plan, and implement new user-facing features
• Translate designs into polished, responsive mobile experiences, with a focus on performance and accessibility
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve performance issues across platforms
• Write clean, well-documented code and participate in regular code reviews
• Offer technical input on architecture decisions as the product scales
• Contribute to a strong engineering culture grounded in collaboration, autonomy, and continuous improvement

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in mobile or full-stack development, including at least 1 year using React Native
• Proficiency in JavaScript and strong comfort with the React ecosystem
• Familiarity with native mobile development (Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, or Java) is a plus
• Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform and SQL is a strong bonus
• Solid understanding of app architecture, scalability, and mobile UX best practices
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, remote environments with a high degree of ownership
• Previous experience supporting products with large, active user bases (1M+ users) is a plus
• Strong communication skills and availability for virtual meetings Monday–Thursday, 8am–12pm ET
