Business Analyst – Data Lakehouse
We are partnering with a growing organization to identify a Business Analyst – Data Lakehouse who can bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical data teams.
This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working directly with complex data, understands how modern lakehouse environments operate, and can turn business questions into clear data requirements, metrics, models, and reporting needs.
You will work closely with data engineers, architects, and business users to improve how data is collected, transformed, governed, and ultimately used across the organization.
What You'll Own
Business & Data Requirements
- Lead workshops and stakeholder discussions to understand reporting, analytics, and operational data needs.
- Translate business questions into detailed data requirements, definitions, and measurable outcomes.
- Help define the data elements, business rules, calculations, and metrics needed to support analytics and decision-making.
- Document requirements clearly enough for engineering and architecture teams to translate them into technical solutions.
Data Modeling & Lakehouse Collaboration
- Partner with data engineers and architects to define requirements for data ingestion, transformation, and delivery.
- Help translate business needs into logical data models, reporting structures, and reusable metrics.
- Work across modern lakehouse technologies and data layers to ensure the right information is available for business use.
- Support discussions around ETL/ELT pipelines, data orchestration, and how source data moves through the platform.
Data Quality & Consistency
- Help establish processes that improve data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability.
- Identify data-quality issues and work with technical and business teams to determine root causes and remediation.
- Define business rules and validation expectations for critical datasets and metrics.
- Support consistent data definitions across reporting and analytics use cases.
Governance & Data Management
- Support enterprise data-governance initiatives across the lakehouse environment.
- Contribute to standards around:
- Data lineage
- Metadata
- Access and permissions
- Data quality
- Compliance
- Help ensure business users understand where data comes from, how it should be used, and what governance requirements apply.
Analytics & Business Insights
- Use SQL and other querying approaches to investigate data, validate requirements, and support analysis.
- Translate complex data structures and findings into clear insights for business stakeholders.
- Partner with reporting and analytics teams to support dashboards and business intelligence solutions.
- Help ensure dashboards and metrics accurately reflect agreed business definitions.
What We're Looking For
- Strong hands-on proficiency with SQL and querying structured data.
- Familiarity with modern data lakehouse environments, including technologies such as Databricks, Delta Lake, and AWS S3.
- Understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata management, and data lineage.
- Experience translating business needs into data requirements, models, KPIs, and metrics.
- Working knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines and data orchestration concepts.
- Experience with business intelligence and visualization platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Strong requirements-gathering skills, including workshops, interviews, and stakeholder discovery.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both business users and highly technical teams.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to explain complex data concepts in practical business terms.
- Exposure to procurement or supply chain data is beneficial but not required.
