Epic Cogito / Caboodle EDW Analyst

Project: Enterprise Epic Implementation

Duration: Contract through Epic Implementation / Go-Live (12+ months)

Location: Remote with periodic travel to Florida

Position Overview

A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Epic Cogito / Caboodle EDW Analyst to support the transformation of its enterprise data warehouse as part of a large-scale Epic implementation.

This role will be instrumental in transitioning existing healthcare data and analytics infrastructure from legacy Cerner and Soarian environments into Epic Caboodle. The analyst will evaluate current EDW structures, data pipelines, transformation rules, and reporting dependencies and determine how those requirements should be represented within the new Epic ecosystem.

The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on knowledge of Epic Caboodle, Cogito, Clarity, SQL, and enterprise healthcare data warehousing, along with experience supporting complex EHR data migrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess existing enterprise data warehouse tables, data pipelines, transformations, and business rules currently dependent on Cerner, Soarian, and other legacy data sources.
  • Map clinical, operational, and financial data elements from legacy platforms into the appropriate Epic Caboodle data structures.
  • Create comprehensive source-to-target mappings to support the transition from legacy EDW models to Epic.
  • Evaluate gaps where existing data or business logic does not have a direct Epic equivalent and partner with technical and business stakeholders to define appropriate solutions.
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries against Epic Caboodle to support enterprise reporting, analytics, and downstream data requirements.
  • Validate migrated and transformed data against legacy datasets, Epic reporting outputs, and established business requirements.
  • Support strategies for historical data where legacy Cerner and Soarian information must remain available alongside new Epic data.
  • Analyze differences in data definitions, terminology, granularity, relationships, and business rules between legacy platforms and Epic.
  • Document source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, data lineage, assumptions, dependencies, and identified gaps.
  • Partner with Epic Cogito analysts, data engineers, architects, report developers, analytics teams, and business stakeholders throughout the implementation.
  • Support data reconciliation, testing, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and implementation readiness.
  • Contribute to post-go-live stabilization and help establish scalable approaches for incorporating Epic data into the organization's long-term enterprise data architecture.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working within Epic environments, including participation in complex implementations or enterprise-level projects.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with the Epic Caboodle data model.
  • Demonstrated experience querying, analyzing, and integrating Caboodle data for enterprise analytics or data warehouse initiatives.
  • Advanced SQL skills with experience working across large and complex healthcare datasets.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data warehousing, data modeling, and healthcare analytics architecture.
  • Experience developing source-to-target mappings and translating legacy data structures and business logic into new data models.
  • Knowledge of clinical, operational, and financial healthcare data domains.
  • Experience performing data validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting across multiple healthcare systems.
  • Ability to understand complex data relationships and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong technical documentation skills, including data lineage, transformation rules, mappings, and data definitions.
  • Experience working with Epic Clarity in addition to Caboodle.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work across technical, functional, analytics, and business teams.

Required Epic Certifications

Current, active Epic certifications in:

  • Epic Cogito
  • Epic Caboodle Data Model
  • Epic Clarity Data Model

Epic Data Courier Badge strongly preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience migrating an enterprise data warehouse or analytics environment from Cerner, Soarian, or another EHR platform to Epic.
  • Experience integrating Epic data with non-Epic enterprise systems and data sources.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale Epic implementations and data transformation initiatives.
  • Background working within a large healthcare system, academic medical center, or research-focused healthcare environment.
  • Experience with data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and healthcare data-quality standards.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Healthcare, Data/Analytics, or a related discipline strongly preferred.

An Associate's degree may be considered with additional directly relevant professional experience.

Project & Travel Requirements

This is a long-term consulting engagement supporting a major enterprise Epic implementation. The position is primarily remote, with periodic quarterly travel to Florida.
