JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Job Costing Review: Verify subcontractor invoices against project budgets and approved change orders before entry.
- Financial Accuracy: Identify coding discrepancies, budget inconsistencies, and financial irregularities proactively.
- Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations for vendor/material house accounts and company credit cards.
- Reporting: Prepare accurate financial reports and assist with weekly finance meetings.
- Payroll Support: Enter employee timesheets into QuickBooks and track labor hours by job category.
- PM Collaboration: Work directly with Project Managers to resolve financial questions and support operational decision-making.
- Process Ownership: Support the full bookkeeping cycle across multiple active projects with high organization.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: 3–5+ years of hands-on experience as a Full-Charge Bookkeeper or in a highly transactional project-based accounting environment.
- Software Proficiency: Strong experience with QuickBooks Desktop (Enterprise is a plus) and Excel.
- Communication: Comfortable communicating with Project Managers, vendors, subcontractors, and leadership teams.
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to think critically and identify financial inconsistencies rather than simply processing transactions.
- Organization: Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously.
- Work Model: Must be comfortable working fully onsite in Princeton, NJ.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Industry Exposure: Prior experience in construction, real estate, or project-based accounting is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Job Costing Knowledge: Experience with project budgets, subcontractor invoicing, and change orders.
- Growth Potential: Interest in long-term growth into a senior accounting or Controller-level position.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Base Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 / year
- Health: Company covers 100% of employee base plan (Medical); Dental and Vision available.
- Retirement: 401(k) with ~3% Safe Harbor Contribution (100% vested) plus Profit Sharing.
