About the Company
Our client is a rapidly growing, leading national manufacturer and distributor of high-performance building materials and architectural systems. Operating a robust network of regional facilities, they blend industrial manufacturing with local logistics hubs. They are currently seeking an impact-driven, autonomous leader to take complete ownership of their local back-office operations.
Position Summary
The Operations Supervisor is a single-site leadership role responsible for directing all facility floor operations, including warehousing, inventory control, logistics, and localized production. This role has a high level of autonomy with minimal micromanagement. The ideal candidate isn't looking to maintain the status quo—they are a hands-on operator who will use continuous improvement tools (Lean, 5S) to streamline workflows, optimize accuracy, and upgrade team capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
-
Floor & Logistics Management: Supervise all back-office logistics, including inventory picking, receiving, and customer delivery coordination. (Excludes front-office admin/invoicing).
-
Team Leadership: Directly manage, coach, and develop an on-site warehouse and production crew of 10–20 hourly employees. Address performance gaps and build a culture of safety and accountability.
-
Process Optimization: Champion floor layout and workflow improvements utilizing Lean and 5S frameworks to eliminate waste and reduce cycle times.
-
Data & Inventory Control: Enforce strict data discipline by tracking key metrics on the warehouse floor (Inventory Record Accuracy, Order Picking Accuracy, Labor Efficiency).
-
Asset Accountability: Oversee the preventative maintenance and utilization of specialized machinery, material processing equipment, and forklifts.
Requirements
Must-Haves
-
Experience: 3 to 5+ years in a warehousing, logistics, or manufacturing/production floor environment.
-
Leadership: 2+ years of direct people management experience with a proven history of professional growth.
-
Technology: Heavy experience working daily within a modern ERP/MRP system. Direct experience using electronic barcoding and scanning devices for floor transactions is required.
-
Hands-on Mindset: High mechanical aptitude; fully comfortable around heavy machinery and willing to step in to perform floor work (e.g., forklift operation) alongside the team when necessary.
-
Physical Capability: Ability to stand and walk on a concrete floor for extended periods and safely lift up to 50 lbs when supporting the operation.
-
Stability: Stable professional tenure with a clear track record of leaving processes better than you inherited them (no pattern of frequent job-hopping).
Nice-to-Haves
- Prior experience managing a blended facility that handles both logistics/distribution and raw material conversion/production.
- Active forklift certifications and formal safety credentials (OSHA-10 / OSHA-30).
- Educational background in Business, Operations, or Supply Chain Management (Equivalent leadership experience accepted in lieu of a degree).
What This Role Offers
-
High Operational Autonomy: True "entrepreneurial" freedom to run your floor and build your team's culture without being micromanaged.
-
Fully Compensated for Floor Time: Shift parameters are stable, but unlike salaried positions that require 50+ hours a week for a fixed rate, this role is strictly non-exempt. Any hours worked past 40 are paid.
-
Career Trajectory: High visibility to regional executive leadership within a scaling, stable national organization.
