JOB DESCRIPTION
The Test Engineer will play a critical role in supporting the development, testing, calibration, and improvement of advanced ultrasound and acoustic systems. This individual will take primary ownership of the acoustic testing lab and work closely with engineering, production, and project management teams to ensure products meet performance, quality, and reliability standards.
This role is highly hands-on and ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting complex systems, improving testing methodologies, building fixtures/tools, and working directly with hardware and lab equipment. The engineer will also help transition manual testing processes into more scalable and automated workflows that can eventually be executed by production technicians.
This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager and does not have direct reports.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct testing of ultrasound devices and related systems
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and acoustic-related issues
• Utilize tools such as MATLAB or Python to support testing and data analysis
• Support rapid prototyping efforts including 3D printing and CAD/modeling work when needed
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, technicians, assemblers, and project managers
• Maintain, calibrate, and improve the acoustic testing lab environment
• Develop and improve automated testing methods and workflows
• Create testing protocols, procedures, and technical reports
• Design and build custom test fixtures and manufacturing test equipment
• Support firmware and hardware testing activities
• Help transition repeatable testing activities to production technicians over time
• Maintain confidentiality related to R&D and new product development initiatives
REQUIREMENTS
MUST HAVES
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
• 1–3 years of hands-on engineering, lab testing, validation, or troubleshooting experience
• Experience with MATLAB and/or Python
• Hands-on engineering mindset with strong initiative and self-direction
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills within lab or manufacturing environments
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating cross-functionally with engineers, technicians, and project managers
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to professionally communicate testing results and issues
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong documentation habits
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, onsite engineering and testing environment
• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt quickly to changing priorities
NICE TO HAVE
• Medical device industry experience
• Experience in technology manufacturing or product development environments
• Background in acoustic testing or ultrasound systems
• 3D printing and CAD/modeling experience
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 quality systems
• Exposure to firmware testing and embedded systems
• Quality certifications or regulated industry experience
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
• Base Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 annually

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Location: Bothell, WA
• Work Arrangement: Fully on-site
• Schedule: Standard business hours, Monday–Friday
• Must be comfortable working in a laboratory and engineering testing environment
• Role requires frequent use of computers, lab equipment, testing instrumentation, and hands-on hardware work
• Occasional lifting of equipment and test materials may be required
