JOB DESCRIPTION


The Accountant will play a critical hands-on role in supporting the company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy across multiple billing systems and accounting processes. Reporting directly to the leadership team, the Accountant will handle daily reconciliations, general ledger activities, and month-end close support.

This position requires a highly detail-oriented and self-directed individual who thrives in a small-business environment. The ideal candidate is someone who prefers "heads-down" work, enjoys solving problems independently, and has a strong background in industry-specific billing. As the company has few written procedures, this individual will be key in helping document and refine accounting processes as we scale.

This is a hybrid position based in Lewes, Delaware, requiring 2 days per week onsite.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


  • Maintain daily accuracy of financial data across multiple systems and portals, including QuickBooks Online.
  • Manage AIA Billing (progress billing) and ensure all trade-specific documentation is accurate and compliant.
  • Perform general ledger accounting, month-end close support, and daily bank/credit card reconciliations.
  • Monitor, reconcile, and categorize transactions, ensuring supporting documentation is received and matched.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding discrepancies, invoices, and payment inquiries.
  • Handle licensing, credentialing, and background check documentation required for specific jobs and trades.
  • Review and validate billing across different service structures to ensure consistent financial information.
  • Assist in creating and documenting written processes and procedures (SOPs) for the accounting department.
  • Serve as frontline support for vendor-related financial questions and data integrity checks.



REQUIREMENTS


  • 3–5+ years of hands-on accounting experience, specifically within the Construction, Home Building, or Skilled Trades industries.
  • Must have proven experience with AIA Billing and project-based accounting (job costing).
  • Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
  • Strong experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
  • Proven ability to conduct daily reconciliations and support the month-end close process independently.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and comfortable working with changing data in an environment without pre-existing documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to take initiative and “figure things out” with minimal direction.
  • Professional stability and a track record of long-term tenure in previous roles.
  • Must pass a credit check, criminal background check, and drug screen.



EDUCATION


  • High school diploma or equivalent required. (Relevant industry experience is prioritized over degree requirements.



COMPENSATION PACKAGE


  • Salary Range: $75,000 (Open to discussion based on seniority and specific industry expertise).



WORKING CONDITIONS


  • Hybrid role based in Lewes, Delaware, with 2 days onsite per week.
  • Standard office hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
  • Candidates must live within a sustainable commute of Lewes (Sussex County preferred).
  • Minimal customer interaction (approximately 5%).
  • No travel required beyond standard commute.
