We’re looking for a Business Development Manager who can independently own the full sales cycle, from generating opportunities to closing new clients. This is a true hunter/finder-and-grinder role, not an appointment-setting or lead-follow-up position. The ideal candidate will proactively build pipeline through their existing network, referral and channel partnerships, LinkedIn, targeted outbound, and inbound opportunities; lead discovery and sales conversations; build trusted relationships; and consistently convert opportunities into revenue. They should be confident, consultative, persistent, highly self-motivated, and comfortable working autonomously without being managed through call-volume metrics. Success will be measured by new clients closed, revenue generated, quality of pipeline, and independently sourced opportunities, with the expectation that the person takes ownership of results, communicates proactively, follows through consistently, and continuously finds new ways to create business. This is an opportunity for an experienced full-cycle seller with a strong professional network to have significant autonomy and directly influence the growth of a founder-led professional services organization.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Full-Cycle Sales & Business Development
- Own the sales process from prospecting and qualification through negotiation and close
- Generate and manage your own pipeline through networking, referrals, LinkedIn, Apollo.io, targeted email outreach, and other business development channels
- Respond quickly to inbound opportunities and referral introductions
- Conduct discovery and alignment calls to understand business challenges, uncover opportunities, and position relevant solutions
- Lead compelling virtual sales presentations using visuals, examples, and success stories
- Follow opportunities through the entire sales cycle and consistently convert qualified prospects into clients
- Maintain strong follow-up and communication throughout the buying process
- Manage existing pipeline while continuously creating new opportunities
- Partner with leadership when needed, while maintaining primary ownership of your deals
Referral & Relationship Development
- Build and maintain a strong network of B2B referral partners within the small-business and professional-services ecosystem
- Develop relationships with professionals in financial planning, investment management, accounting, tax, estate planning, law, and related industries
- Turn referral relationships into consistent sources of qualified opportunities
- Nurture relationships over time rather than treating referrals as one-time transactions
- Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships and mutually beneficial referral relationships
- Leverage your existing professional network and actively expand it
Pipeline & CRM Management
- Maintain accurate and timely records of prospects, opportunities, conversations, and next steps in HubSpot
- Keep the pipeline organized and provide clear visibility into deal status and expected revenue
- Document sales activity and follow-up consistently
- Proactively communicate pipeline updates, challenges, wins, and next steps to leadership
- Use CRM and prospecting tools such as HubSpot, Apollo.io, LinkedIn, Asana, and Zoom to manage the sales process efficiently
Strategic Business Development
- Identify opportunities to expand the company's presence within financial services and other professional-services markets
- Help develop new referral and channel strategies that create sustainable sources of warm opportunities
- Collaborate with marketing to align messaging, campaigns, and lead-generation efforts
- Provide market feedback and insights that can improve prospecting, positioning, and conversion
- Recommend improvements to the sales process as the business continues to scale
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
You will be successful in this role if you can consistently create and close new business without needing to be micromanaged. The primary expectation is approximately 2 new closed clients per month, with the opportunity for that target to increase as marketing-generated opportunities grow. The sales process is typically short — often two conversations: an introductory/qualification call followed by an alignment call, with occasional one-call closes.
Your success will be measured primarily by:
- New clients closed
- Revenue generated
- Opportunities independently sourced
- Quality and consistency of pipeline
- Referral and warm-lead generation
- Conversion of qualified opportunities into closed business
There is no rigid call-volume quota. We care about outcomes, not activity for activity's sake.
