JOB DESCRIPTION


The Dairy & Frozen Supervisor is a multi-unit leadership role responsible for overseeing Dairy and Frozen departments across multiple store locations. This role reports directly to a senior category leader and provides direct oversight to department managers across both categories.

This position was created to address growth-driven oversight gaps and to strengthen centralized category leadership. As the organization has expanded, the need for strategic category ownership, improved reporting visibility, and standardized operational processes has increased.

The Dairy & Frozen Supervisor will take a high-level, analytical view of category performance while maintaining a strong in-store leadership presence. The role balances strategic planning with hands-on coaching, ensuring consistent execution across all locations.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


Multi-Unit Leadership

  • Oversee and support Department Managers across multiple store locations
  • Maintain consistent store coverage (typically visiting 1–2 stores per day)
  • Standardize category practices across all stores


Financial & Performance Management

Analyze category performance, including:

  • Sales
  • Shrink
  • Gross profit
  • Labor
  • Develop scalable processes and improve reporting visibility
  • Conduct pricing analysis and competitive checks


Merchandising & Category Strategy

Lead merchandising initiatives, including:

  • Seasonal planning
  • Resets
  • Trending and new item introductions
  • Support vendor relationships
  • Ensure consistent category execution across locations


Leadership & Development

  • Provide coaching, training, and performance management
  • Lead change initiatives and manage resistance effectively
  • Establish development plans for department managers.
  • Build trust and accountability within teams


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with HR, Store Managers, Department Managers, and Finance/Reporting teams
  • Support new item introductions and vendor partnerships


REQUIREMENTS


Experience

  • Ideally 2–5 years of experience in Dairy and/or Frozen departments
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Experience at the department level strongly preferred
  • Mandatory experience within a structured supermarket retail environment (multi-unit or high-volume store environment preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing financial metrics within a supermarket environment


Leadership Skills

  • Proven coaching and development ability
  • Experience managing change and overcoming resistance

  • Ability to balance firmness with approachability


Analytical & Technical Skills

  • Comfortable working with financial data (sales, shrink, gross profit, labor)
  • Pricing and competitive analysis experience
  • Basic Excel proficiency

  • Ability to learn proprietary internal reporting systems



LOGISTICS & SCHEDULE

  • Must own a car
  • Ability to travel weekly across the regional market
  • Flexible retail schedule required (mornings, weekends, holidays)

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

  • Base salary range: 65K-85K per year according to experience
  • Quarterly bonus
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Phone reimbursement


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Fully onsite position
  • Travel required across multiple store locations
  • The typical schedule includes mornings, weekends, and holidays
  • Variable retail schedule
