JOB DESCRIPTION
The Managing Attorney is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the legal, operational, and cultural performance of the Texas office (Dallas). This role blends high-level litigation leadership with office management, people leadership, and operational decision-making.
The Managing Attorney will serve as the legal and cultural standard-bearer for the office, taking ownership of complex, high-value cases while also ensuring consistency, accountability, and execution across teams. This individual will play a critical role in strengthening processes, mentoring attorneys and staff, and aligning the office with firm wide strategic and operational initiatives.
This is a highly visible and impactful role suited for a seasoned litigator who is equally comfortable in the courtroom and in leading people, setting expectations, and driving performance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Take full ownership of a combined pre-litigation and litigation docket, including the firm’s most complex, high-risk, and high-value cases.
• Make clear, decisive calls on liability, case value, settlement posture, and trial strategy, and stand behind those decisions.
• Oversee and manage all attorneys and staff in the Dallas office, setting expectations, driving accountability, and supporting development.
• Lead case strategy from intake through resolution, including demands, motions, depositions, mediations, and trials.
• Prepare cases as if they will proceed to jury trial, ensuring excellence in strategy, execution, and advocacy.
• Serve as the go-to legal authority for high-impact personal injury matters.
• Provide clients with direct, honest, and practical assessments of risk, value, and outcomes.
• Mentor attorneys, paralegals, and case managers to elevate performance and reduce friction or inefficiencies.
• Establish and reinforce office standards, workflows, and SOPs (leveraging existing frameworks developed in other offices).
• Conduct performance reviews and participate in hiring, development, and termination decisions as needed.
• Ensure cases move forward consistently with no dormant or neglected files.
• Partner with senior leadership to support operational, strategic, and cultural initiatives.
• Help implement and reinforce firm-wide management systems and processes designed to improve clarity, accountability, and execution.
REQUIREMENTS
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active license and good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
• Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience, with a strong focus on personal injury law.
• Prior experience as a Supervising Attorney, Managing Attorney, or similar leadership role in offices or teams of 10+ professionals.
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to drive accountability in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated success handling high-exposure cases, including meaningful settlements and/or trial verdicts.
• Strong trial readiness and willingness to take cases to trial when appropriate.
• Proven ability to manage a heavy docket independently while leading others.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• High ethical standards and commitment to professionalism and continuous learning.
• Experience with case management systems, digital files, and modern legal
technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Familiarity with Filevine or similar case management platforms.
SALARY RANGE
• Base Salary: $175,000 – $250,000.
• Performance Bonus: Bonus eligibility tied to fees generated. Once fees exceed five times base salary, the Managing Attorney earns 10% of amounts above that threshold, calculated from the individual’s start date.
• Compensation is structured to reward leadership, results, and long-term impact.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Fully onsite position based in Dallas, TX.
• Typical office hours are Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• This role requires active engagement with staff, clients, and leadership and is not designed as a remote position.
