About the Role
We are seeking skilled Press Set-Up Technicians to join a fast-paced production team in Woodbridge, ON. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for setting up and installing die line-ups, performing die transfers, and maintaining press operations across simultaneous production lines. This is a critical position within our operations department, reporting directly to the Production Supervisor.
We currently have 3 openings: 2 positions on Night Shift and 1 position on Afternoon Shift.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or post-secondary education in a technical/trades field
- Valid Forklift licence (training provided if required)
- Valid Crane licence (training provided if required)
- Demonstrated knowledge of die set-up for both manual and progressive tooling
- Experience operating presses and loading/unloading coil feeders
- Familiarity with Inspection Records, SPC Charts, and checking fixtures
- Proficiency with measuring instruments: micrometer, vernier, and caliper
- Experience with quick die change systems and roll feeder set-ups
- Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
- Solid mathematical aptitude
- Ability to work overtime as required to meet production demands
- Knowledge of WHMIS/GHS regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to follow written set-up instructions and maintain tool work orders
- Background in automotive manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 quality management and ISO 14001 standards
Key Responsibilities
- Perform die set-ups, transfers, and die changes while following all pre-set-up safety checklists
- Maintain simultaneous operation of two presses, keeping one cycling while setting up the other
- Operate 10–40 ton overhead cranes using appropriate slings or chains (certificate required)
- Load coils onto uncoilers and thread strip through the die
- Set counter balance air pressure in accordance with tool weight specifications
- Coordinate with maintenance, toolroom, and other departments to resolve equipment or tooling issues
- Input production data into the system and adhere to production schedules
- Complete Forklift Safety checklists prior to use
- Maintain a clean and organized work area before and after each set-up
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives and 5S standard maintenance
- Attend all required training as per the internal training matrix
- Perform all duties in compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies
