The Role
As the Buyer, you will support material planning and purchasing activities for an OEM manufacturing operation. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the right materials are available at the right time to support production schedules and customer commitments.
This role requires someone who is comfortable balancing office-based purchasing responsibilities while also collaborating closely with manufacturing and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily purchasing activities to support inventory, production, and job-specific requirements
- Create, issue, and track purchase orders
- Obtain and evaluate supplier quotes for pricing, lead times, and terms
- Follow up with vendors on deliveries, pricing discrepancies, and invoicing issues
- Support supplier sourcing, evaluation, and ongoing relationship management
- Participate in supplier negotiations and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory data within the ERP system
- Collaborate with internal teams including manufacturing, planning, and engineering
What You Bring
- Experience in purchasing, buying, or material planning within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong communication skills — comfortable working with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Experience using ERP systems (SAP Business One is an asset, training can be provided)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- A self-starter mindset with strong attention to detail and sense of urgency
- Ability to build effective working relationships across departments
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience
- Prior experience in purchasing, buying, or planning is preferred
- Comfortable working in an office environment while supporting shop-floor operations
