A technology-focused organization is seeking a Senior IT Systems Engineer to support and maintain its cloud and internal infrastructure. The role focuses on security, reliability, and scalability across systems supporting engineering and operational teams. This position involves hands-on ownership of infrastructure and security practices in a technically complex environment.

Role

The Senior IT Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, securing, and operating cloud-based systems and internal tooling. The role includes system hardening, monitoring, incident response, and infrastructure resilience, with regular collaboration across technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement security architecture across cloud infrastructure and internal systems
• Manage access controls, secrets management, and network security
• Architect and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery systems
• Develop and maintain endpoint device management policies and tooling
• Build and operate monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes
• Conduct threat modeling, risk assessments, and system security reviews
• Maintain technical documentation, policies, and operational runbooks
• Support audit and compliance-related initiatives where applicable

Required Experience

• 4+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a related role
• Strong experience with cloud platforms and cloud security (e.g., AWS, GCP)
• Experience with identity and access management (IAM), secrets management, and key management systems
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and secure system design
• Experience with scripting or programming languages (Python, Go, Bash, or similar)
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to varied audiences

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting distributed or high-availability systems
• Exposure to security-focused system design or infrastructure hardening
• Familiarity with modern security architectures (e.g., zero-trust concepts)
• Experience in fast-moving or product-driven technical environments
