Our client is a nationally recognized flooring and tile subcontractor specializing in multi-family new construction, including apartments, high-rises, senior living, student housing, and build-to-rent communities. Role Overview

They are seeking an Account Manager to develop and grow a book of business within the multi-family construction market. This is a high-impact, outside sales role designed for driven professionals who thrive on building relationships, winning work, and owning their results. This is a true hunter role. While you’ll inherit a small number of existing accounts to help you ramp up, your primary responsibility will be developing new relationships with multi-family general contractors, securing project awards, and expanding your territory.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build and grow relationships with general contractors and project stakeholders
  • Develop new business through prospecting, networking, and strategic outreach
  • Manage and expand a small base of existing accounts while focusing on new client acquisition
  • Prepare and submit bids using estimator-provided take-offs
  • Negotiate pricing, margins, and contracts to successfully win projects
  • Interpret drawings and project specs to support accurate proposals
  • Lead buyout discussions and manage projects from award through completion
  • Maintain an active pipeline and accurate CRM reporting
  • Partner with internal operations teams to ensure smooth project execution
  • Follow a consistent, disciplined sales process


Travel & Structure

  • Outside sales role with a high level of autonomy
  • Travel required (typically Tuesday–Thursday, every other week) to meet with clients and job sites
  • Responsible for managing your own pipeline, reporting, and day-to-day sales activity


What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years of sales experience in multi-family new construction (required)
  • Experience negotiating with buyout Project Managers (required)
  • Proven track record of developing new business
  • Strong negotiation and margin management skills
  • Experience with project pricing, scopes, contracts, and change orders
  • Highly organized with strong follow-up and pipeline management skills
  • Comfortable balancing administrative responsibilities with travel
  • CRM experience preferred (Microsoft Dynamics is a plus)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office


Compensation & Growth

  • Year 1–2: Base salary + commission
  • Year 2+: Transition to a full commission structure with significantly higher earning potential
  • Top performers earn high six-figure incomes
