Project Estimator – Full-Service ICI General Contractor (Toronto & Surrounding Regions)


A highly reputable and well-established full-service ICI General Contractor with a 10+ year pipeline of independent retail ground-up builds is seeking a Project Estimator to join its growing team. Based in the Greater Toronto Area, this is an exceptional opportunity for a detail-oriented and ambitious construction professional to work with a respected leader in delivering complex, high-quality commercial projects from start to finish.

Position Overview

The Project Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive project cost estimates for new ground-up retail builds and other ICI developments. Working closely with project managers, senior leadership, and external stakeholders, the Estimator will play an integral role in developing budgets, pricing strategies, tender submissions, and value engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, budgets, and cost estimates for new builds and renovations within the ICI sector.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to assess project scope and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Analyze trade quotes, subcontractor pricing, and supplier proposals to ensure competitive and comprehensive bid packages.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Site Teams to support project delivery, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Assist in developing schedules, bid strategies, and tender presentations.
  • Maintain accurate historical cost data and support ongoing improvements to estimating systems and templates.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings and contribute to design-assist and value-engineering discussions.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in ICI or commercial construction estimating (retail ground-up experience considered a strong asset).
  • A degree or diploma in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, building systems, materials, and current market pricing.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (such as OST, Bluebeam, or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to thrive both independently and within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills to interface effectively with contractors, clients, consultants, and internal staff.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary ranging from $90,000 – $130,000+ bonus, commensurate with experience and project background.
