Quality Manager
Reports To: CTO
Experience: Post-secondary education and 3-5 years of relevant manufacturing experience
Salary Range: $90000 - 100,000
SUMMARY
Working under the direct supervision of the CTO, the Quality Manager will develop, implement, and maintain the quality management program. Knowledge of ISO 9001 required.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Strategy:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive quality assurance strategy that aligns with the overall product vision
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of QA professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Establish and maintain QA processes, standards, and metrics to drive accountability and track performance
Testing and Automation:
- Design, implement, and optimize automated testing frameworks, ensuring robust test coverage across all products
- Oversee the creation and execution of test plans, test cases, and test scripts, ensuring thorough validation of all product features
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate testing to ensure rapid and reliable product releases
- Perform quality audits; establish quality standards using defined and measurable metrics
- Implement investigation process for managing complaints from start to finish
- Monitor finished products to confirm compliance with quality standards and contain those which fail to comply
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to understand product requirements and ensure alignment on quality objectives
- Work closely with sales, customer service, and operations to address customer complaints
- Provide regular status updates and quality reports to leadership, highlighting risks and areas for improvement
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to address quality-related issues and foster a proactive approach to quality
Training:
- Train all employees to meet quality standards in all areas of the production process
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use of computers, guidelines, formal terminology, instruments, and communications systems to perform research and reports
- Adherence to all Health & Safety and Fire Emergency policies and procedures
- Other responsibilities as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Highly motivated, team-oriented individual with a BS degree in chemistry, engineering, or a related science, OR a minimum of four (4) years of experience in laboratory analysis, research, and materials processing
- Able to understand and interpret process indications and take appropriate corrective action
- Demonstrated analytical/mechanical mindset, including calibration and maintenance of equipment, problem diagnosis, and making changes or repairs as required
- Technical knowledge and skills pertinent to a research environment in the construction and operation of experimental units (e.g., lab-scale extruders, semi-works, small-scale reactors, calibrators)
- Knowledge of manufacturing or production processes and procedures preferred
- Able to handle heavy weights, operate lab scales, blend samples; knowledge of extrusion (blown film) a strong asset
- Well organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy; sound oral and written communication skills and an ability to problem-solve
