Shop Hand | Machine Shop
Location: SE Calgary Industrial Area
Pay: $18–$22/hr depending on experience
We are partnering with a rapidly growing manufacturing operation that has recently launched a high-volume production facility in Calgary. The team is expanding significantly and is looking for Shop Hands who are confident performing basic maintenance on CNC lathes and/or mills as well as Shipping/Receiving. This is a great supportive team with safety-focused environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Shop Hand is responsible for general maintenance of the CNC machines including supporting with inspection checks, safely handling chip bins and fluids. The Shop Hand will act as the Shipper & Receiver with securing shipments to ensure work packages are packed and loaded correctly.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Responsible for completing daily rigging, and forklift inspections
· Performing pre-use inspection of all machinery and tools to be used
· Safely operating equipment (Forklift, Dot Engraver, Laser Engraver, Overhead Crane)
· Responsible for materials management:
· Moving materials to racking, CNC cells, Swiss Lathe with baskets/pallets
· Shipping and receiving of materials
· Load/unload of materials from trucks
· Securing materials to pallets and/or baskets
· Entering work package into PO Receipt system for transporting
· Ensuring the work package is accompanied with the correct paperwork
· General maintenance of CNC Mills/Lathes by performing daily inspection checks:
· Ensure safe and proper handling of CNC Mill/Lathe fluids
· Maintaining accuracy of information lasered onto machined parts and adding all necessary traceability information
· Confirming completed parts have been marked and are ready to move to the Quality Control Department
· Safe handling of Chip Bins when moving to and from machines:
· Filtering waste, scrap, and recyclable materials to proper bins and designated areas
· Proper and safe handling of hazardous fluids
· Responsible for assisting in maintaining a safe and clean work environment
· All other duties as assigned
Skills and Experience
· Demonstrate working knowledge with operating (Forklift, Laser/Dot Engraver, Bander, Waste and Recycling bins)
· Read and interpret work packages
· Experience with utilizing various hand tools an asset
· Communication effectively with employees and supervisors
· Able to work both independently and as a part of a team
· Able to lift heavy material up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Shifts Available:
(Shift 2):
· Week 1: 48 hours (four 12-hour shifts): Monday to Thursday, 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
· Week 2: 36 hours (three 12-hour shifts): Monday to Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.Day Shift
(Shift 3):
· Week 1: 36 hours (three 12-hour shifts): Friday to Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
· Week 2: 48 hours (four 12-hour shifts): Thursday to Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.Evening Shift
(Shift 4):
· Week 1: 36 hours (three 12-hour shifts): Friday to Sunday, 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
· Week 2: 48 hours (four 12-hour shifts): Thursday to Sunday, 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
