Welder Fitter/ Steel Installer

Our client is seeking a Site Welder / Steel Installer to join its structural steel and custom metalwork team. This hands-on role involves installing fabricated steel at construction sites, completing field welds, and working with the crew to ensure each installation is safe and accurate. This opportunity would suit a welder who enjoys varied projects and hands-on installation work outside the shop.

Responsibilities include:

• Read drawings and take site measurements to plan installations
• Position, fit, bolt and weld structural steel and miscellaneous metal components
• Install items such as stairs, railings and other custom steelwork
• Make on-site adjustments to achieve proper fit and alignment
• Inspect completed work for quality and report any site or drawing discrepancies
• Use welding equipment, hand tools and lifting equipment safely
• Follow site safety procedures, including requirements for working at heights

What we’re looking for:

• Experience with structural steel installation, field welding or a similar trade
• Ability to read drawings and work accurately with measurements
• Confidence fitting and welding steel in a construction-site environment
• Strong safety habits and the ability to work well with an installation crew
• CWB welding qualifications and Working at Heights training are assets
