Regional Chief Operating Officer – California (Behavioral Health Expansion)

We are a mission-driven behavioral health organization providing peer support services, operating at scale and focused on supporting individuals in the moments where clinical care alone isn’t enough—bridging the gap between treatment and everyday life. Founded in 2008, the organization has established a strong presence and is now entering an exciting phase of expansion.

As part of this next stage, we are expanding into California and seeking a Regional COO to lead the launch, build-out, and long-term operational success of this market.

About the Role

This is a ground-up leadership opportunity. You will be responsible for establishing operations in California, building infrastructure, and ensuring alignment with state-specific regulatory and reimbursement environments, including Medi-Cal.

You will work closely with executive leadership to bring a proven model into a new market—adapting it where needed while maintaining the integrity of the organization’s mission and approach.

Scope & Impact

  • Lead the launch and expansion of operations in California
  • Build and oversee local leadership teams and program infrastructure
  • Navigate Medi-Cal / Medicaid reimbursement, regulatory requirements, and compliance
  • Establish scalable systems, workflows, and operational processes
  • Partner with executive leadership to align growth strategy with execution
  • Drive performance, accountability, and consistency across programs
  • Serve as the senior operational leader for the California market

What We’re Looking For

  • Executive-level experience within behavioral health, mental health, or healthcare services
  • Strong understanding of California Medicaid (Medi-Cal) and reimbursement models
  • Experience launching, building, or scaling programs from the ground up
  • Proven ability to operate in ambiguous, high-growth environments
  • Experience leading multi-site or distributed teams
  • Strong operational and systems-thinking mindset

Benefits

  • Competitive executive compensation
  • Performance-based bonus structure
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Executive-level PTO
  • High level of autonomy and direct impact on growth strategy

Why This Role

This is a unique opportunity to take a proven behavioral health model and build it in a new state from the ground up—expanding access to meaningful, community-based support.
