Job Summary

The Director/Senior Director of Sales Operations is responsible for leading and optimizing the sales operations of a US-based direct sales organization. This senior-level role involves strategic planning, forecasting, budgeting, and implementing sales processes to drive SaaS sales revenue growth. The role requires collaboration with sales leadership to ensure the sales organization runs efficiently while achieving revenue and margin targets.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead the direct sales organization, providing strategic direction, goal setting, and performance management.
  • Develop and execute SaaS sales strategies to drive revenue growth, improve efficiency, and ensure delivery excellence.
  • Partner with executive leadership to define sales goals, revenue targets, and strategic priorities.
  • Oversee territory planning, sales forecasting, and pipeline management to ensure consistent performance and visibility.
  • Generate and analyze sales reports and KPIs, delivering actionable insights to sales and executive leadership.
  • Mentor and develop high-performing sales leaders and teams, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Design, implement, and optimize sales processes, policies, and systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Manage and refine CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability across the sales organization.
  • Standardize reporting and dashboards following SaaS best practices to drive adoption and transparency.
  • Build a data-driven sales operations framework to guide decision-making and performance tracking.
  • Support sales target setting, performance monitoring, and pipeline optimization to meet or exceed business objectives.
  • Monitor key metrics such as win rates, deal cycles, and churn, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Implement best practices for deal structuring, resource allocation, and sales process optimization.
  • Provide regular reports and insights to the VP of Sales and executive team to support strategic decisions.
  • Drive operational alignment between Sales, Professional Services, and Finance to improve customer experience and retention.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Marketing, and Product to ensure alignment on revenue and growth initiatives.
  • Oversee seamless handoffs between sales and post-sales teams to ensure customer satisfaction and success.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Sales leadership to design and manage sales incentive and compensation programs.


Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Required

  • Deep expertise in SaaS sales operations, including forecasting, pipeline management, and sales enablement.
  • Hands-on experience with CRM and analytics systems; proficiency in Salesforce and Power BI preferred.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with a track record of scaling high-performing sales teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing abilities with executive-level stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical, operational, and problem-solving capabilities.


Education / Professional Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in sales operations or sales leadership within a SaaS organization.
  • 10+ years of experience managing direct and channel partner sales in SaaS environments.
  • Proven success leading a direct SaaS sales organization with measurable revenue and delivery growth.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to model, interpret, and communicate complex data.
  • Experience in SaaS industry and direct sales experience are nice-to-haves.
