Opportunity Summary

A venture-backed advanced manufacturing startup is building a software-driven foundry that produces precision metal castings for aerospace, defense, and industrial customers far faster than traditional suppliers. Software sits at the center of that process, and the team works directly on the factory floor.

In this role you will build the data and machine learning systems that help the factory run better. You will collect and structure process data, find the links between process variables and part quality, and deploy models that flag problems before they reach a customer. You will report to the CTO and own meaningful pieces of the manufacturing software stack.

We are an early-stage, well-capitalized advanced manufacturing startup rebuilding domestic metal casting capacity for aerospace, defense, and energy customers. Backed by leading venture firms and strategic aerospace and defense investors, the company has a production foundry up and running, is shipping parts to customers, and plans to bring additional foundries online as demand grows. The founding team comes from top commercial space and metal additive manufacturing companies, and every employee works on-site, close to the physical process.

Job Duties

• Design data collection for process parameters, machine logs, inspection results, and operator feedback
• Analyze historical process, geometry, and outcome data to surface trends and correlations
• Build, train, and deploy models that predict manufacturing outcomes, detect production anomalies, and support inspection
• Write C++ and Python software for data processing, automation, and manufacturing orchestration
• Build backend services and internal tools that make production more reliable and easier to scale
• Identify where analytics, automation, or ML will have the biggest impact on quality, throughput, and repeatability
• Work alongside manufacturing, process engineering, and operations to turn floor-level problems into working software

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong programming skills in modern C++ (C++17) and/or Python
• Experience building backend systems, data processing software, automation tools, or technical internal tools
• Strong debugging and systems-level thinking
• Comfortable working where requirements are loosely defined
• Clear communicator with both software engineers and non-software teammates
• Interest in manufacturing, hardware, robotics, or physical processes, and willingness to work on-site
• U.S. person status (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) required under ITAR

Preferred Experience

• Applied ML or data science for prediction, anomaly detection, inspection, or process monitoring
• Exposure to MES platforms, factory automation, or sensor, machine log, and IoT data
• Time-series databases, Postgres, data modeling, or analytics pipelines
• Cloud deployment on AWS, containerization, or batch compute
• Geometry processing or 3D data
• Early-stage startup experience

Compensation Details

$155,000 - $195,000 + equity
