An established and growing technology company is developing state-of-the-art electro-optical instruments used across advanced defense systems and industrial applications. With a strong reputation in high-performance infrared imaging and sensor technology, we’re seeking a skilled Test Engineer to lead the automation and characterization of next-generation sensor platforms. In this role, you’ll design and implement software-driven testing and metrology systems using Python and other tools, working hands-on with hardware interfaces, motion control systems, and data pipelines. Your work will directly impact system performance, image quality, and the reliability of some of the most advanced optical systems in the industry.

Job Duties
- Develop and maintain automated test systems to evaluate electro-optical sensors and embedded systems
- Build custom test frameworks and GUI automation tools using Python and/or C#
- Integrate software with hardware systems, including motion stages, test instrumentation, and communication protocols
- Design and support backend data systems for test logging and sensor performance tracking
- Perform hands-on testing of imaging systems and lidar devices, supporting improvements to usability and output quality
- Create automated data analysis and reporting tools for internal engineering use
- Support root cause investigations and assist in debugging system-level performance issues
- Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and optics teams to streamline test coverage and increase throughput
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- 3+ years of experience writing test automation scripts and frameworks, primarily in Python
- Hands-on experience working with physical systems, sensors, or embedded test environments
- Familiarity with GUI testing tools and scripting environments
- Experience working with structured or unstructured data and reporting systems
Preferred Experience
- Strong coding ability in Python and C#
- Experience with motion control integration and multi-axis system calibration
- Familiarity with test equipment interfaces such as IEEE-488 (GPIB) and RS-232/serial protocols
- Working knowledge of NoSQL databases like MongoDB
- Experience using embedded communication protocols (I²C, SPI, UART, Ethernet)
- Background in sensor testing or image data analysis
- Proficient with Git or other version control systems
- Capable of modifying or improving legacy code for efficiency and maintainability
Security Clearance
- Must be able to obtain US Secret clearance.

Compensation Details
$90,000 - $140,000
